  1. Many thanks for the replys.. I should have elaborated a little in that I don't actually need a new cart.. I'm currently using an AKG P8E, and there's a very low hour 1042 sat on the shelf, to be fair I like carts, there are some on here who enjoy box swapping amps & speakers, I've always enjoyed trying new carts.. tho on a relatively low budget as they have always been difficult to demo, even when they were common, sure you could walk into a shop and hear carts/turntables easily enougth, but how much of that was due to the other gear.. I might buy a Denon 110, just to see what the fuss is all about, the price is cheap enougth.. I haven't listened to an ortofon cart for at least15 years, I never used to like them, I used to hear a family "brightness" that I just didn't like, and I guess that now, I'm just biased against them.... I have been meaning to put the 1042 back for a while, but was very interested to hear of the the 2000's, and a couple of replys, have put me off them enougthto save me a couple of ££'s.. cheers guys :green:
  2. Shows how much I read the Hi fi press.. I don't.. I just discovered today that there is a Goldring 2000 series, I couldn't actually find a proper Web review.. iether.. I've used the the 1000's for 12 years or so, and am very fond of the 1042..does any body here any experience of the 2000's??.. they look like they'll be a twat to set up with that curved body shape.....
  3. I've got pretty much most things done by PT, a great band.. THe first album of theirs I ever bought was "Signify", and it's still a fave, but the album I play the most is "Stupid Dreams" put that into the CDP wind the volume right up and play the first track (Even Less)
  4. for me it's the first few albums, upto and including Borbaletta... Promise of a Fisherman was stunning on my old Dynatron system way back then... but yeah Caravanserai was such a subtle stoner listen. 3rd album was awesome, Abraxas was superb, and how come no one's put their hand up for Jingloba & Soul Sacrifice.. the tracks that maybe started it all...

  6. Please add me to the need a record "flattened" list. More to the point does any one know of any reviews of these beasties, it would be interesting to know if they actually work..:nerd:

It was still going many years later though it had all been given a coat of hammerite (silver/blue) color by my brother in law, who inherited it off me..:green: I believe you are talking about the Bush "arena" system, sp25 t/t, seperate amp/tuner (which was made by B&O) and wharfdale speakers, all in white. This was my first ever seperate`s system and my first HP purchase. I used to think it sounded amazing back then. Found this, and i thought my spelling was bad:shock: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=276024 No twas deffo dynotron.. ( the family similarity is awesome ) and I did it just by switching between A/B on the amp. now I appreciate, that my Rotel RA1062 is just a total piece of Jap crap.... but the statement above whilst I understand it's fundamental roots can only be considered as :td::td::td::td: and I realise that other wammers have argued the same point.. but for once I am utterly pissed with a post on this forum........ way, way, waytoo elitist.......
