  1. No one else seems to post here. Sub forum Bloody predictive text bollocks
  2. Don't use any solution with IPA in it to clean a stylus. IPA is a solvent and can dissolve the glue holding the diamond on.
  3. They often don't even see it if they set their search parameters by distance
  4. Perfect, that worked, thank you. 'Tel' is a false identity, I had inadvertently revealed the location of my safe house
  5. Records Vinyls is a term used by teenagers who know no better.
  6. How do you remove yourself from the members map?
  7. Great idea, Whiskey Tube to passive pre-amp (not mine)
  8. It all depends on what presentation you like. I would never consider a Whest in any system.I would own. The Allnic 1500 is excellent but the best value for money in that class is the Aurosound Vida, absolutely stunning phono stage. But then I think LCR is the way to go.
  9. It is a waste of time and money worrying about cables. If your life is that screwed spend the money on counseling.

    Best Record Labels ?

    MSFL Music on Vinyl
  11. I use dBpoweramp to rip all my CDs and it defaults to FLAC 5. In all the tutorials I have read and forum threads about the best settings to use no one has ever mentioned changing this (and I never have).
  12. Flac is just the same as zipping a data file. It takes up less space, but when you open it everything is there. Sound quality wise there is no difference between a full fat file and and Flac. I have a 3TB drive which is 80% full of Flac files I hate to think what that would be in WAV or other similar full fat formats Do not get confused with what Flac is and what compressed files like MP3 are. The word compressed has two different meanings in that sense.
  13. You won't be missing out on anything. Unless the entire system is balanced or the cable runs are far beyond anything normally used in a domestic situation there is no benefit.
  14. The pies have always come from a local supplier in Melton Mowbury, that is the point isn't it? Otherwise you may as well buy them in Tesco.
  15. I knew I had him on ignore for a good reason, problem is that when people quote ignored posters they still annoyingly appear
  16. 1) All electronic components will be imported, 2) The pound has devalued spectacularly since Brexit 3) Naim are a French company now are they not?
  17. There is no security in this site. As it says in the Classified Rules "Caveat emptor & caveat venditor! ALL transactions are YOUR responsibility, not The Owner or its delegates."
  18. Why would you bother? Support an independent record shop. If you buy from supermarkets all there will be eventually will be the old classics which you already have and what ever shit their buying dept orders which will be stuff you don't want. Then everyone will be moaning about the fact that there is no one but the supermarkets and Amazon in the market place. Supermarkets don't give a stuff about anything except profit, once the vinyl fad slows down they will drop records and there will be no where to buy them.
  19. Very true But when I am streaming a film through an Amazon firestick wirelessly through a router you could argue that I am watching 'Computer TV' but the experience isn't like that, just because there is a computer in there somewhere doesn't mean that i am logged in with a keyboard and a screen and the noise etc. Picking an album using my phone from my own library or Spotify doesn't feel like I am using a computer, and as long as I am not tempted to browse a forum or buy music or check emails etc I can just concentrate on the music. As long as I am a little bit disciplined the experience is almost like vinyl, especially if I chuck the phone across the room and listen to the whole album.

    Which Cable?

You don't need cable ties, elastic bands work just as well and are free, I stalk follow my local postman and pick up the ones he drops.
  21. Apart from ripping the CDs I don't use my computer at all. I use them enough at work, i don't necessarily want to have to have a computer running to listen to music. I have a 3TB NAS running LMS through a SBT to an external DAC. I use an app on a phone or tablet as a remote for the SBT
  22. 30Wpc will certainly not drive any speaker no matter what design. You might get lucky but if you like the speakers then get an amp that matches them . I used similar speakers with a Conrad Johnson Premier 11A which used a quad of 6550 valves was Class A/B and produced 70Wpc Sound familiar?
