  1. Michael, Thank you. As I mentioned in my email, when you feel up to it just let me know and I’ll try and and sort out collection at your convenience. Hope you’re feeling a little better and look forward to corresponding in the near future. Iain Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Hi Michael, We have exchanged a number of emails via your personal email address and pretty sure you have given someone first option, that might be me based on our most recent email exchange (last week). Wishing you a speedy improvement and hope to catch up in the near future. Iain

    Which RCM?

I cut a piece of card and then used as a template for a piece of board that I place on top of the VV - job done.

    Which RCM?

I have a Velvet Vortex, one of the earliest purchasers and I’ve used it extensively since I bought it. Can’t recommend it highly enough. I do also use a wet RCM, either a VPI 17 or 27 in conjunction with the Velvet Vortex and it works especially well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Are the LP's listed below still available please? Batman (1989) OST - Danny Elfman (Jerry Goldsmith - Total Recall (1989) OST £4 Lethal Weapon 2 OST - Various artists £4 Born on the 4th of July OST - Various artists £4
  6. I’ve had a pair of Alto Utopia Be in my system for several years now (actually, it may be 9 years). Paid £4K for them from the Focal distributor and have been absolutely delighted with them since they arrived. Only thing I’ve done is to upgrade the Townshend speaker platforms they were supplied with to the latest model. If I had sufficient cash, I’d be sorely tempted to try a pair of the Maestro Utopia but at around £15k for a used pair (not the latest Evo III model) I might have to wait a while. 7. If it’s the same as mine, you can unscrew the pods from the platform and they will have a coloured dot on the top. If you then refer to the Townshend website the dots correspond the the weight range the pods are designed for. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. It's similar to this I think but not at the front diaphragm suspension, at the rear of the driver.
  9. Okay, speaker drive unit taken out to have a good look. It appears to me that the suspension has become detached around the voice coil (if that sounds like I know what I'm talking about, don't believe it for a second). It looks like the glue securing the corrugated card (can't think of a better description) has failed on the outer edge (the one away from the voice coil). The drive unit from the other speaker doesn't have this problem - so I'm using a process of elimination. Assuming this to be the case, what glue am I best using to try and attach - assuming it is a DIY fix? Cheers Iain
  10. I’ll have a look at the dust caps/cones as well. Thought this might be a simple fix, but alas no and replacement units seems as rare as hens teeth (I believe it was a proprietary Castle unit). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  12. Thanks, I’m going to try taking the driver out and turning it around first as that is quite simple to do. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
