  1. Living Voice Air Partners. Predecessor to the Vox Olympians...and a better speaker imo. More transparent with better bass...though the treble probably isn’t quite as good as the Olympians.
  2. Ah they’re resistors? Sorry I’m not very technical.... They can really reduce the need for box swapping as you can tune the sound exactly as you like it. I’d imagine this way means less circuitry in the signal path over conventional tone controls, in theory should have a smaller effect on the signal?
  3. Yeh I’m not sure what the parts are. On mine you have to open the doors to get to the x over and then put a multi meter on the connectors to each drive unit to set them exactly...
  4. My speakers have controls to adjust the treble and mids (which then increase or decrease the bass output in relation). Best thing ever...you can completely change the character from flat as a fart to cut your ears out....every speaker should have them.
  5. Getting a handful of valve amps over for a dem. Total waste of time and money on shipping. They were all rubbish in comparison to decent SS.
  6. Thanks Julian I’ll order up a bottle of that.....
  7. Lol yeh of coarse it wasn’t my kids, but visitors (now never in every time they try to come over) Ill maybe just go with a damp microfibre with the tiniest bit of fairy to see how I get on.....
  8. Just wondering what's the best way to give them a clean? The shiny drivers are a pesky kid magnet and all the lower drivers are covered in grubby finger prints. I was gonna to go with a very slightly damp microfibre cloth followed by a dry one, but I thought I'd check first. Thanks guys.

    Sub stand?

My subs are sealed and side ways firing. My dealer told me to do three things and you’ll notice a big difference: 1. Use half decent XLR’s. 2. Use a decent power cable. 3. Get them off the floor a good bit. I haven’t done any of the above yet...but it’s only been 3 years so...
  10. My dad. Growing up he had a Technics TT, Nytech 252 and Heybrook speakers. Years of The Wall, Rumours and Jean Michel Jarre had me hooked on music played on a good system...
  11. Ffs you didn’t tell me that!! Damn you too!! Now to hunt for speakers.....oh and a good divorce lawyer...
  12. Amps just arrived with me. Bloody hell they are like new! Absolutely perfect condition and Bazzer is a proper top bloke. Thanks again Bazzer!
  13. Their Living Voice Air Partners...I’ve got a pair...
  14. Oh ffs I’ll take them....I don’t have any use for them but they’re just too pretty...damn you Bazzer!! PM incoming.
  15. It was years ago (6 or 7) and the details are a bit foggy. But I’m thinking that the original LPS1 only one had one output? I switched up from a Kingrex PS IIRC. The LPS1 was a good bit better than the Kingrex (but perhaps 3 times the price?). I was told to try the JS2 which was at the time for me a lot of money, perhaps £700-800? I just remember that the JS2 was a revelation after the LPS1 and made it sound a bit ‘odd’ more than anything. The LPS1 was relegated to power the Regen. It was then replaced by an HDPLEX which again was way better than the LPS1. Only thing is the HDPLEX decided to put at 20v through both outputs one day taking out the Regen and whatever it was that it was powering!
  16. Sorry FL I meant the JS2, I had forgotten the LPS had dual outputs too. The JS2 is leagues ahead of the LPS which I found to be one of the worst PS’s I tried...
  17. Did you find the battery supply was very smooth but lacked oomph? I use a couple of the bigger Uptone PS’s, I found them the best performance/cost wise in my system. They have dual outputs too so in the grand scheme of things no more expensive than a lot of more inferior get ups... Try one if you get a chance..
  18. I subscribed to What Hi Fi c.15 years ago, cancelled it a couple of years later, but still receive it every month like clockwork for free. What HiFi proved to me that Mission, Cyrus and Audiolab made the best sounding kit in the world and there was no need to waste my time shopping around. So the the freebie that has helped me the most is What HiFi itself...
  19. AMR 77 Dac. Was the most natural dac in the world for 12 months. Then you heard it and it made everything sound like you had strapped pillows over your drive units. Im going to make a prediction for a ‘where are they now’ in a few years....a la Devialet. Dutch & Dutch & Kii. Just proves that you can’t measure “the point”.
  20. The best I had were the Musical Fidelity Titans, which replaced and bettered the Boulder monos I had at the time. 1000w/ch that doubled all the way down to 4000w/ch, an incredible piece of engineering. Now I’m on the lookout of the opposite, the best very low powered SS class a amp I can find...
  21. It really is, if you’re in the market for a valve amp, they don’t come better than this....
  22. Cheers FL But £4.4k bloody hell!!!! I’m a great believer in quality PS’s especially with digital (the more and higher quality the better) but don’t think I could justify that on a pair of £500 class d monos. I’m going to try some higher end Class D amps and see what gives with those...but it may be an interesting comparison with the Temples and DC4...
  23. Cheers FL Nice to see the attention to detail with sound deadening on the inside of the case. Can you tell us how much it was and can it Power more than one device at a time? I was recommended one of these to try with the Temple Audio monos. I have their Superchargers at the mo, but as a rule I have found that battery/super capacitor supplies aren’t great. I had the Uptone LPS1 which was destroyed by the LPS2...
