  1. Location: Upavon, Wiltshire (or my work in Tidworth). Price: £280 Nice pair of these planar headphones I bought recently. I’d never tried planar headphones so bought these to try them out. I really like the sound so have pulled the trigger on some Dan Clark Aeons and these are surplus. They were 3 months old when purchased (off eBay) for £275. I have also got a really nice balanced cable which just provides a bit more voltage to drive them, not that it really needs them. This cost about £90. Terminated with a 2.5mm TRRS. I will cover postage by Royal Mail. I haven’t posted here for a while so please excuse me if I have missed any information off.
  2. I have a Bryston 4BSST2 driving a pair of PMC Twenty23, front end is a current spec Linn Akurate DSM (Katalyst). I had been using an older Audioquest Diamond (first gen) between the DSM and the amp. I knew both had balanced options, but for some reason when I looked at the connections on the amp they don't look like regular XLR so I went with the RCAs. I was playing around with a sub and wanted to switch to XLR and use the RCAs for the sub, and voila the XLRs slipped right in. I am using a short run of DH Labs Silver Sonic BL-1 with Neutrik XX series terminations. I was shocked at the difference when I fired it up, more punch, dynamics and immediacy! Anybody else done this XLR vs RCA comparison, what were your results? I have a 3 meter piece of Wireworld Polaris 5 that I recently picked up cheap, bad ends. I just ordered some Neutrik 14 series for those, want to cut it in half and make a pair to try that out and see what that sounds like! Anybody have experience with the Wireworld cable?
  3. One Sennheiser HDVA600 headphone amplifier, in perfect condition. I have owned it since new. The amplifier has both balanced and "single ended" analogue inputs. The amplifier will also drive headphones in balanced mode, which is the way I have been using it with my HD800-S 'phones. I've been very happy with the amplifier. As you can see from the photos, the amplifier comes in its original packaging (the CD contains the manual and other information). Please be aware that this is a pure analogue amplifier, and is *not* the very similar looking HDVD800 which has a digital input in addition to the analogue ones. The amplifier cost about 1100 GBP when new, and I bought it from a local dealer (Basically Sound, near Norwich). I am looking for about 650 GBP for the amplifer, but will consider offers. The reason I am selling the HDVA-600 is that I am now using a Benchmark HPA4, in part because I also wanted a pre-amp (to drive a power amp and then speakers). I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.
  4. Hello. Has anyone with a Bryston BHA 1 headphone amp tried both the Single Ended Jack Plug socket and the 4 pin XLR Balanced Socket and noticed any difference? Thankyou.
  5. Valved Audio Research LS15 line pre-amplifier. Excellent condition. Fully operational remote, though this has some minor signs of wear. Fitted with 4 new output valves about 100 hours of use ago. Also included, if wanted, are single-ended to XLR plugs which allows 'Direct' (see pic) operation from a single-ended source. 'Direct' bypasses some circuitry resulting in even broader sound-stage. Offered at £645
  6. Purchased from Electromod on 21st December 2015 (receipt supplied) this is a highly regarded balanced headphone amp that will drive pretty much anything. You can do some tube rolling with this amp and as well as the original supplied tubes i'm including a pair of NOS Mullard Amperex Red Label ECC88's (cost me around £55) and the unique Schiit Solid State Tubes (LISST) (cost £85). You too can drive yourself mad trying to hear the difference between the three options! I'm selling on as I've know moved onto headphone amp exotica and no longer require the Schiit. More info at: http://schiit.eu.com/amps/mjolnir-2. These now cost £775 (mine was £729) and with the extras total was around £860. Looking for £600. UK next day delivery £9.95 or collect from West London.
  7. This was imported from the US and it's rarely available for sale on the EU side. This particular DAC was born from the incredibly successful community funded Indiegogo campaign and it's exemplary DAC for the price, matching much more expensive designs. Model X is based on fully balanced (dual mono) ESS Sabre 9018 reference platform with high end TCXO clocks and offers fully balanced (headphone too) and single ended feature set. One can use balanced and single ended connections at the same time or separately and headphone amp quality is superb. Additionally 2x coax, AES, optical and USB inputs are in place. Please note that originally DAC doesn't include IR remote, but I've paired Apple one (per spec) and it's working just fine. DAC itself is very stable and operating without any glitches. LH Labs did have problems with some production units, but this particular sample is problem free. I don't have the original box with me anymore, but it will be carefully packed and handed over to courier for insured next day delivery service. For more information and detailed product spec, please follow this link http://marketplace.lhlabs.com/products/pulse-x Thanks for reading! £490+ FREE insured next day delivery (collection is possible from TW8)
