Hi there, I thought it would be interesting exchanging some ideas here on the forum about the upcoming "no deal" brexit. I am Belgian, and I live in Brussels. I order records in the UK, on the websites of independent record shops as Rough Trade or Resident. I like the UK, every home has a good stereo set. You guys are audiophiles! I did buy several hifi speakers and turntables on the second hand market in the UK, I come over to pick them up myself by car with the Eurotunnel. I am a good customer of several hifi traders in the UK, that ship overseas. All of that will come to an end after 31 october 2019. A no deal means import taxes and VAT on everything I buy in the UK. In Belgium: 30,- EUR + 21% VAT. I will be forced to look at alternatives in the Netherlands, Germany or France. Will the online sellers of hifi and records survive the Brexit? Is the UK market big enough by itself? All these Brexit questions just keep on tumbling around in my European head.
