  1. Hey all! It's time for me to find a new home for my Marantz CDA-94. I brought this really hoping to use it but circumstances have changed and I don't think I'll get the use out of it. And I need to make some space! There's a mark on the top front plate, but beside that this unit is in rather good condition and as far as I can tell it works perfectly. I've never used the DAT inputs/outputs, but I assume given the rest of the unit working that they are fine. I've moved this in and out of my system swapping it with my Teac UD-501 along with using it as a dedicated DAC for my Sansui CD-917XR (I also need to get around to selling that!) and a couple of other sources including a Pi streamer etc. It's always impressed me in its quality - especially these TDA chips. There's something super special about this era of Philips DAC (this is a Philips unit in tarted up Marantz clothing). It sounds exceptional and iirc there're three separate transformers in this and it's built like a tank - thick metal plates everywhere. There's some great info on TVK (http://www.thevintageknob.org/marantz-CDA-94.html) if you want any more reading. This unit hasn't been serviced by me and from looking at the internals I would guess that it has never been recapped since it's mostly filled with what I assume are original Elna caps. There're no noticable issues inside but of course I can't guarantee the condition. I'll include a standard figure-8 lead for the unit. If you have any questions please feel free to ask! Ideally collection only from Cheltenham but can post at an extra cost. Looking for £550 or trades for any other equipment especially other vintage gear but will consider anything.
  2. The Model 30 integrated is an 'analogue' amp whereas the Denon has digital inputs. I'm mostly an analogue user but the Denon's versatility appeals. Anyone experience of either amp?
  3. Marantz PM-17 KI Signature integrated amplifier for sale. Immaculate used condition with only minor age related marks/scratches. Comes with remote, manual and original pacakging. Very solidly built and great sounding amp with MM/MC phono stage. £495.00 Collection from SE London, or can be posted if buyer pays shipping.
  4. Moving house next month so time to move on some much loved but no longer used HiFi. First up is my Marantz PM66 SE Ken Ishiwata Signature amplifier. This is in pretty much mint condition with original box, packaging, remote and manual. Tested today. Perfect working order and still sounds great in traditional Marantz style. £200 for the amplifier. Please contact me to discuss postage/couriers so we can sort something out. Local collection or delivery abiding by social distancing also welcome in Bury St Edmunds area. Photos show item exactly as it will be delivered. Also on eBay at a price including fees. I’ll also be listing the accompanying CD63 mk ii K.I. Signature CD player. Thank you.
  5. Alongside my PM66 SE KI amplifier, here is the matching CD player. As you can see, it’s in almost mint condition and comes with original box, packaging, remote, manual and Ken Ishiwata certificate. I tested it today and it’s in perfect working order. I’m looking for £225 for the player. I’m loathed to just post this anywhere so please contact me to arrange delivery or courier. It will be double boxed for protection as will be packed just as the photos show. Local collection/delivery in Bury St Edmunds area, abiding by social distancing, is much preferred. Please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you.
  6. Good morning all, this is my first post so apologies for any newbie errors. I have a Marantz SR4400 AVR (bought in 2003) and the subwoofer (connected to Sub Out) makes a popping noise everytime I press the mute button, change source or when the amp turns on or off. All other speakers are fine and don't make a popping noise. I took the AVR to an authorised Marantz Service Agent in the UK and they said they weren't able to repair the AVR as it is too old. So I will have to repair it myself. Any suggestions for what the fault part(s) could be? Thank you in advance.

  8. Selling a Marantz player which has been terrific in a second system but is no longer needed. It is in fabulous condition - couple of minor nicks - and plays perfectly. Comes complete with original box, manual, remote and Ken Ishiwata certificate. Legendary player in almost faultless condition. Rarely come up complete like this. £200 including uninsured ParcelForce delivery. No collection.
  9. This is a half serious enquiry in that I might just buy a new amp if something exists as reasonable costs. I am wondering if I can have my cake and eat it or if the two amp worlds that I think exist are mutually exclusive. A limitation may well be my speakers Harbeth SHL5. In comparison to my former Wilson Benesch Curves the Curves were substantially more revealing of amplifier differences but I am not prepared to change my speakers. My question comes from my experiences at home with Luxman L505uX mk2 and Marantz PM11S2. They are both great amps but are quite different; equally good. I would like a combo of the two and would love to know if this is possible. Both amps do music and not just sound. I know that is hifi bollocks wording but hopefully you know what I mean. I have no interest in soundstage, imaging and hifi stuff especially as I don't listen to a lot of classical music. PM11S2 does better leading edges of notes and definition. This means that instruments with percussive attack sound more real; classical piano sounds more like piano. The bass notes also go lower and have more punch. The Luxman (and Quad 909) have a 'sweeter' sound. It is a fuller, smoother sound. The bass on the Luxman does not go as deep as the Marantz and on certain tracks the bass guitar on the Luxman has more 'bounce' probably because it is not reaching as deeply and this is great for funk. Does an amp exist at reasonable money to get all of these virtues? It must be an integrated SS amp (might be open to an integrated w valve pre/SS power) I have done ARC mega tube amps in the past and don't want to go back there. I might be prepared to spend up to £5k and happy to go secondhand as new might be asking too much. Completely open to ideas as I have not visited this area for a long time. Just to say that I did hear the Marantz PM10 a few years ago at home (with SA10) as I was desperate to buy it and didn't think it any better than PM11S2. Also had the NuVista 600 or 800 (can't remember) at home but it didn't do the leading edges as well as PM11 S2 - it was just big and warm. I don't need phono stage or DAC but I would need a tape loop. Not sure about Class D as I have not heard that many but didn't like any of them. Many thanks Dom
  10. Selling my Marantz PM6006 UKSE. In as-new condition. Complete with all accessories, remote and power cable. £225. Price includes delivery with 48 hr ParcelForce tracked delivery. Please ask for different delivery options. Thanks.
  11. I am parting with my Marantz SA7001KI SACD Player KI Signature with Tentlabs Clock. You can see some pics of this SACD player here. The player itself works flawlessly. The SA7001 is renown for its output buffers based on HDAM technology. And this version of the SA7001 has been modified by the late Marantz 'brand ambassador' Ken Ishiwata, whose special attention has graced those models that bear his mark. Features added to the SA7001 include passive components (capacitors), a shielded toroidal transformed instead a simpler EI one, and so on. Furthermore, this SA7001KI has been tuned a bit more by adding bitumen dampening and a Tent Labs clock with its own onboard regulated power supply. The SA7001KI is in itself a rarity. The player itself looks like new, has been kept lovingly in a smoke and pet free household, and the only blemish is that the LCD display has lost a bit of its brightness. I am asking 300 EUR plus shipping (preferably to Europe, including the UK).

  14. Hi, For sell Marantz PM17 (mk I) integrated amplifier in gold. It is in very good condition and comes with remote and manual. Price : £350 Collection from Ipswich, Suffolk or can post it, although the cheapest postage price I found is £40.
  15. I've now upgraded to an Arcam UDP411, so my Marantz UD7007 is now available. This produces really first class pictures from both Blu Rays and DVDs. It's also an excellent audio player. It'll play virtually all discs. I used it primarily as an SACD player and Blu Ray Audio player. Audio output is on either balanced XLR or SE RCA phono. There are dual HDMI outputs. It can also act as a basic network player. This has a very nice, smooth disc loading mechanism and is very quiet in operation. I bought it new around 18 months ago from an authorised UK dealer. It will come with all its original packaging, box, manual, remote control, mains lead, HDMI lead and basic RCA interconnects. There are some light scratches and marks on the top panel; otherwise in very good condition (please see pics for details). It works perfectly. I'm offering this at £180 plus £15 UK delivery (at your risk, although I will send by UPS).
