  1. Hi All, I am a new member, and would really appreciate a bit of advice. This weekend my wife redesigned the my house, and I have been given carte blanche to upgrade my audio setup. So I am aiming to build a new system around my 2014 LP12. I will be discarding a Marantz PM11s2 and Chario Constellation Cygnus speakers which have served their time. This means I will be left with a Turntable and Motor and nothing else. Base System Linn LP12 + Linn Akita Arm + Dynavektor XXV mk 2 + Radikal Motor + Trampoline Future System Streaming: I want to add an appropriate level Network Player (along lines of Linn Selekt DSM) Phono Amp: A phono preamp which does justice to the LP12 (not sure whether there is a case for Urika / Urika 2) Amp: A quality amp - either integrated or power (but ideally aiming to keep box count low and keep signal chain clean as possible) Speakers: Standmounted monitors I am open to going etiher Passive or Active (maybe Exakt / Akudoric?). Can anyone on the board here give me a suggestion of possible expansion paths? I am a bit out of touch with recent developments on Linn or other audio products. I am also keep to stay as close to Linn as possible - although speakers are a question for me (I also like Harbeth / Graham / B&W / Focals etc) Thank you very much for any help, and I appreciate your patience in case I have broken any message board taboos Kind regards, Billy
  2. My C6100/D has served me well over all the years, driving a pair of exakted AV5140 speakers with Espek tweeters. But sometimes I ask myself, what if I upgraded my amps to Akurate level? I never had the opportunity to listen side by side, but my experience with Linn in the past decades was quite consistent: if it's more expensive, then it sounds better. So, my expectation would be an improvement in SQ. From a budget perspective 2xAV3200, or 1xAV4200 + 1xAV2200 are more or less the same. Soundwise, there appears to be a hierarchy: less amps = better sound. So the first option might sound different to the second one. Any thoughts?
  3. I have a "vintage" ReQuest Audio Fusion Pro music server, a PC running iTunes, and a Crown CTS-600 amplifier. When I use the ReQuest server as input, the audio out from the amplifier is OK, but not loud. When I use the PC (with a USB audio card), the volume out of the Crown is MUCH higher. Sorry if this is a basic question, but why the difference? The ReQuest server does not have any output level controls that I know of. Richard
  4. A house move means my Boulder, Titan, Revel Salon system is going to be relegated to the TV room, so of course it doesn't warrant keeping. Only c.20 amplifiers ever made they are a collectors piece, I haven't seen a set for sale before. I bought the amps power amps c.5 years ago as an open box but never played. They wiped the floor with the Boulder power amps I had at the time. One of the quietest power amps ever made, you won't hear a better power amp below £50-£60k, and even above this price point the amps I have auditioned were different rather than better. They are immaculate in every way, without any scratches, scores or dents. The only issue is that the rear two mesh grills (on both amps) have discoloured from the sunlight (they have gone to a colour between black and brass). Taking the lid off, popping them out and some matt black spray would easily sort this but I don't want to open them up. They come with all original packaging, boxes, paperwork etc. £8500 including shipping but I will have a look at reasonable offers. I would also a swap for a valve preamp of similar cost and quality for my valve system.....WHY?
