Why are frequencies quoted like this? Does it just mean that with an extra 3dB, you can get down to 35Hz, or a given frequency? Why aren't all figures quoted at 0dB?

At 35Hz the output of your speakers is 3dB quieter than it's average output (or it's output over the central section of the frequency response). Basically.

I think it refers to frequency response curves... Here's one from the Fostex full-range driver that I'm thinking of using for DIY project.

That ones seems to me like it's starting to roll off at 100Hz... therefore will need to have a sort of enclosure to boost bass response.

Or a bass unit with one hell of a choke on it to cut it off at 100hz.

Looks interesting from 100hz up tho don't it?

Look forward to hearing what you have to say when you have finished the project.

Have fun

I don't think it'll match up to your ART Impressions

Still at 95 dB/W/m it'll be a good start for future SET projects... all this is currently up in the air though due to (stoooopid) work!

Horses for courses - I would always feel short changed with a loudspeaker that didn't sparkle at the top end (I love cymbal sounds being a drummer) but I can also appreciate the appeal of a single driver, not only cos there is no crossover getting in the way but also the efficiency of them so allowing greater amplifier choice.

Off topic, but is that one of the F120A, F200A, FX120 or FX200? seems to flat for any of the other fostex ones....

Haha... I know... doesn't look like it has the mid-high frequency hump! Many hours of internet browsing/life wasting has paid off!

It's the FE167E.
