Clearly, there's some background work going on to try to better monetise the site; fair enough.

However, it is leading to many formatting problems. I'm now getting advert banners between posts, like a few other forum sites. I find this very annoying and intrusive. I don't want to have to use an ad blocker, but I shall be forced to if this doesn't change. Is this new format for adverts permanent? I use Safari.

Is this on all devices you use ?
Yes. Ipad pro 2020 using iPados 15.2. Plus Safari on iMac. I don't view much on my iphone.

The video ads look very dodgy to me, possibly even scammy. One looked like an ad for porno 'game' or some such. Video ads also have strange formatting; smaller rectangle within large banner space. They're also full of moving, flashing images. Sorry but not acceptable for me.

I quite understand that forums take financial resource to run plus need to provide a return on investment. Is there any milage in a subscription model? £x pa for an ad free experience, perhaps?

Simon I don't own the forum and the adds are being used to assess traffic  . I don't use any adbloccker . I run an iPad , iPhone and Mac Air and all I get when not signed in was the care for the elderly advert. Nothing in-between posts and when I sign in I get. nothing .

On my Android phone I have noticed some adverts between posts.

If the adverts are being used to support the continued existence of the forum in it's free-to-use form then I'm not personally going to object too strongly. Yes the adverts are a bit distracting but I just scroll past them.

Adverts should only be showing between posts for guests. So all I can guess is that these are showing prior to you logging in?

My comment applied to what I see when logged in. I never browse the forum without being logged in since I do so pretty much exclusively using the Unread Content activity stream.

Ok, If you could get some screenshots over to me that would be great. I've logged into diff accounts and still unable to see in topic adverts when logged in.

Here's one screenshot to prove the point. I think you can tell that I'm logged in as the Quote and 'like' options are available, and the advert is below a post rather than at the top of a page.

I'm using the Chrome browser on Android 11.

Edit: picture removed to free up attachment space.

FWIW I now have the online games ad pretty consistently in the top right on Safari desktop. The rest is mostly blank spaces with a care home ad occasionally making an appearance. Nothing on Safari mobile. I'm always logged in.

No biggie. Other forums have more intrusive ads. Would be nice if some deals could be struck with Hifi companies instead though.

Did you see the one I posted for you before?
I may have missed it.

I guess you are referring to this. If you still have it, drop me it in a PM.

Overall, In topic adverts should only be visiable to guests, I can't fully figure out why it is showing to some registered members and not all.
