Hi All

Long time lurker here, finally able to dive back into this world after children etc. I am looking to buy a pair of Harbeths but have yet to decide on the final model (room is only 14ft x 13ft) but maybe the P3 or HL5? Does anyone have an amp that they may be considering selling at the moment which would be a particularly good match? It seems people love Crofts and Leben with H's but I am sure there are lotS of others. My max budget is £3k.

Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Matt

I may be seling my Luxman SQ38 U (35wpc valve integrated) soon (or now maybe) if it interests you. It'll be way under budget at £1900 was around £4000 new and drove my HL5 s' very happily for years.

PM me if interested but note, I'm in SW scotland!

Get a Quad 909 and spend some time finding a really nice valve preamp that you think goes well with it... plenty good valve pres around here at the mo.

I'd say P3s will shine best in that room by the way...

I did recently have my Accuphase up for sale, but has been withdrawn for now, I was asking for £2500... it will prob come up again later, depends how much of a hurry you are in

I use the SHL5+ with my E350 in a room 14ft by 8ft and they work beautifully... the combo is known as the golden sound of Harbeth and Accuphase.

If this were a discussion thread, I'd agree with you but it's not, so I can't.

The SN2 has serious synergy with my C7ES3s. Of course as far as AS is concerned it matters not one whit...

I had quite a few Amps with my Harbs (Graaf, Leben, Plinius) but by far my fav was a Musical Fidelity FB1 Pre and a Quad 909 Power....loved it

Big fan of Clones too ---- the Sophia is 'better' and more complete IMHO but its a lot more .... you'd be happy with Clones for sure

Hi Matt

I have a Harbeth m30.1 for sale if you are interested. I also have a shl5+ so you can compare the two if you wish. I drive them with NAD M3 but I also have a cambridge audio budget amp and you would be amazed of the sound you get from such an amp. If you are in North London just pm me and you are welcome for a test. Cheers Laszlo
