Hello folks,

My Sugden A21a has a balance issue (not Alcohol related :) ). It often drops out either channel when it gets hot. This can be rectified by either winding the balance control backwards and forwards a few times or by turning the volume up fairly sharply.

So, I'd be grateful if somebody can recommend me an Amp repairer who would be able to take a look at it and maybe give it a service at the same time.

Thanks in advance.

Does it change if you swap the valves over per channel (if that's possible)
Actually, I don't even know if it has any. Woo

I'm not suggesting this as a permanent solution, and all the usual caveats apply, but have you tried a few judicious squirts of contact cleaner/enhancer into the balance pot? A measure I have used with surprising success in the past on various boot sale acquisitions - good for noisy volume pots as well - Deoxit D5 is the stuff I've used. If that holds the problem off long enough to get a service slot with Sugden, then job done - MH

The pots are always an issue on this model. Deoxit, servisol. Give them a blast followed by some twisting backwards/forwards for a while.

If not get it in at sugden. Once you get a slot, they are great to deal with.
+1
Definitely the route to go and they are not expensive.

It has no valves.
Do not use Servisol or regular Deoxit.
Deoxit fader lube is the only one to use. Not especially cheap.
I serviced one of these recently.
Probably a bit too far from Luton.
