Been playing with the new Tannoy Autograph mini very nice not as heavy as I thought and the drivers only 4 inch not 6 as I thought. It sells at £1,250 the sound is very nice plenty of bass no need for a sub. it also has and I had not noticed a super tweeter built into the middle of the cone this is a first and not something that will be put into the bigger speakers.

The only thing which is a problem is stands as of yet none on the market and its different shape makes normal stands look odd, some are planned and at £300 are a good price. I would say this speaker fits into the quality area of B&W 805 but with better image due to DC driver design

there is only one set of posts on the back so no need for bi wire or bi amp thoughts

its a pipe and slippers speaker due to the design/ style price quality means its in the 805B&W area when demo as they with stands are 2k this would be a little cheaper and the super tweeter gives it an edge if your into SACD

if i ever get my new workshop for the big steam engine rebuild I will have a set with a small imported valve amp and cd player the looks alone being so odd would mean not nicked if shed broken in

if you can get use to the looks and are after a stand mount in that price range they should be on your short list but be ready for a wait they are selling like hot cakes

but at least they not waiting for bits to build them

They are allegedly going to make a modern looking version as well. Smart business move I feel.

They advertise these as "post modern chic" looking. They may sound awesome but I can't help thinking they look "post modern shit" (to my eyes).

Would be interested to hear them, especially if they really do come up with a nice looking version.

on the end of some very nice Meridian kit. ARC's with a more refined bottom end. Just brilliant.

Dave,

How do these little Tannoys stack up against equiv ££ standers from Neat?

Hard call will go and have a listen to neats ages since heard them, the thing going for Tannoy is the super tweeter in the middle of the DC a single point full range speaker which with the way super tweeters affect both ends of the range could give it an edge over speakers without super tweeters and having not the same image due to the placement of mid and high freq drivers, thats why even given how close the drivers are in the B&W 805 the tannoy beats it for quality

problem is I like the look of the big prestige range speakers but at present with no stands if I was looking in this price range for a standmount I think the 805 with matching stand would be top of my list
