I brought a pair of Cabasse “surfs” ex demo for the mancave
Shoe box size .. but with decent stands they are a great speaker with great control of the whole range of frequencies even down at the bottom ..

In Pursuit Perfect System’s group test of speakers sub-£1300, Terry said the Dynaudio Evoke 10 had his “favourite bass” of the group. For a small room I would say they are worth a punt. Two pairs on the popular auction site, neither are anything to do with me.

I think the best way to get great bass in a small space is with a pair of small subs such as REL Tzeros with small standmounts.
I’ve just put 2 x REL T5I’s in the classifieds that I’ve been using in a 4.3 x 3.8m room. They work a treat.

Edit - just realised you want low bass so maybe not. Probably another vote for a small, quality sub.

This thread is of great interest to me. My brother has a pair of ProAc Tablettes and a Klipsch sub hidden under the books, which is a completely ridiculously good setup and certainly doable second-hand.

Small speakers alone will not provide deep bass. Definitely, a sub is a must have! For about a grand all in you could get ProAc Tablettes and a Bk Electronics sub. (I’m selling one for cheep in case anyone is interested)

I use these with a REL sub and active crossover/DSP in a small room. Unless you're lucky with room interactions, you may struggle to get deep and tight bass from speakers in your room - using a separate sub gives more flexibility with placement etc.
