. Most Naim users don't fully lock down the collars, as there's a subtle but worthwhile improvement to be had.

Next someone will say its best to make sure the little brass screws that clamp the cables inside a mains plug are best done up tight also, must think we are idiots.

I think they look better fashionably loose so that you get the occassional blue flash and that smell. Not only aural but visual and olafctory senses combined in a sensorama experience.

But do they sound better?

The theory behind this is to reduce vibrations carried along the cable, similar to the cable risers I presume. All bollocks IMO:D
Nope the Theory is...............

Fully locking the collars causes the plug to sit off centre, giving a sub-optimal connection

Careful PB will be along in a minute unless he's too busy with those poles

I'd assume in an all Naim system you'd want as many loose connections as possible for fear of any signal getting through.

To me, this is simply about elitism and esotericism. Nothing to do with hi-fi.

It is saying that you are part of an elite if you do this and youare privy toesoteric knowledge.

The person who does this will feel they are doing something 'special'.

In fact, they are probably just being 'daft'.

I have read/tried this Naim DIN collar-thing and fortunately on 3 Naim things I have found no sonic difference, so I am thankfully pleased to keep Naim collars done up.

Others might find different results for them/act differently accordingly.
