CD player wanted

Looking for a CD player as a good back up and second system player.

I currently have opus unit and this is buried in a storage unit as I am between moving houses which has taken 6 months.

been looking at a meridian 506 but open to suggestions.

I want something that has a analogue musical sound that is nearer to vinyl sound.

cant beet the meridian price per pound theres a g08 on here for £800 but can get 506 507 508 .24s between 350 and 600 the micromega duo trio is very good as well and can get them in that range but mostly chancers wanting thousands .

Never liked the meridian 16 bit or 20 bit but all the 24 bit have that analogue  sound

Me too, picked up a Sony DVP-NS900 QS SACD/CD/DVD player for £50 a few weeks ago, I believe it was around £800 new & I am very happy with it. Works well as a transport only as well if you already have a DAC.

I managed to snag the Denon equivalent for £50 a fews years back, and I love it, really nice warm analogue sound

There is a Rega Saturn in the Classifieds, I think £290. This is a decent player, I have one but it is a top loader which won’t suit some set ups.

Something to consider with a CD player is one that has digital input, so the DAC can be used with other digital sources like a streamer or TV optical out.

I have a mint condition Unison Research Unico CDE with optional DAC module.

It has a class A four valve output stage and sounds stunning. It’s very vinyl like and very open.

Not sure I'd bother spending that much to be honest. I don't think you're going to get close to the performance of the Opus 21 for that budget. Maybe one of the stable platter Pioneers? That should be cheap enough to effectively be 'disposable' or easy enough to sell on without taking too much of a hit, they still seem to be pretty popular.
