I need a pre/amplifier for a conservatory that ideally needs to be flat like the old B&O stuff, so that it can hang on a wall.

I have zero money and am happy to go very second hand. I have my eye on various B&O but did any other companies do anything that could go on a wall?

I really only need a pre/power but if its a reciever so much the better.

Also do you mean hang like a picture frame or be wall shelf mountable? I've seen speakers that are designed to double as picture frames but never an amp. If there has been such a beast please can I be educated?

You can also hang the matching cassette decks on the wall beside them, however it's less recommended for the turntable and CD player..............

Sorry yes I mean an integrated. Actually I just want one box, a flatish one that can go on the wall such as many B&O designs.

However preferably a bit smaller. Basically I will have the main hifi in the sitting room and then tape loop out to an amplifier in the conservatory.

The other option is an airport express, but the premise stays the same a flat amp for the wall (The wall is because its low level, underneath the window sill, so reasonably cool.

Thats the kind of thing Beobloke. However most of the ones on eBay seem like they might have half an hour before they die!

All I would need is the reciever.

And of course speakers. I forgot to ask about them. They want to be small, and not ugly!

Know what you mean!

Always worth keeping an eye out on Lifestyle AV's site (secondhand B&O specialist) - i notice he has a complete system 4500 for sale at the moment but he does get separate stuff in as well - you never know he might even split it up if you only want the receiver!

Linky here - http://www.lifestyle-av.co.uk/details.asp?sectionId=3&productId=1194

No connection with site apart from being a satisfied customer - Lee, the proprietor, is an absolutely top bloke!

Nakamichi used to make a lifestyle system that could hang on the wall, maybe still do.

What about Bose? Are their thingies not wall mountable?

Gary,

I have dropped a text to an old pal that used to have a shed full (literaly) of old B&O kit. Will let you know if he still has it, something tells me he got rid of it when he moved, but no harm asking.

James.

Teac make a very nise slim line unit

http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/index~modelcode~TEA-MCDX10-MK11.htm

no DAB and comes with a sub woofer, but if you just want a bit of music for the conservatory that takes up next to room may be a cheapish option.

I use this in our conservatory :

http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/index~modelcode~PAN-SCEN29.htm

bit bulkier but still does a job for the conservatory. The DAB tuner on it as good as any I've heard to date.
