These B&W DM10's were my first pair of proper speakers. They were launched in 1982 which is the time I bought them from a small independant hi-fi shop at Five Ways, Edgbaston in Birmingham (sadly no longer in business).

I kept these for just over 20 years and then gave them away. I'm sorely tempted to buy another pair just for nostalgia. I can't remember their stats but the cabinets are fairly large for standmounts – about 19"h x 10"w. A very basic front ported bass reflex design with paper cones and very sweet tweeters (not metal domes, that black 'sticky-looking' stuff). Extremely honest speakers with no frills and as I remember, very little colouration. I wonder what they'd do in my system now? The one drawback was the single terminals only accepted very thin cables but may accept banana plugs.

A quick search revealed someone in New Jersey, USA is selling one speaker only (not a pair) for a BIN of $49.00.

Know exactly what you mean turnitup.. my first proper Spkr's were a pair of AR3a's loved them to bits, never upgraded from them, eventually after 30 years they gave way to the dreaded roll surround rot, was going to have them refurbished, but the moving co lost them.. I would, quite honestly have them back, and end my days with them, for all their faults.. likelove really

xanadu, , United Kin
Spendor BC1's bought new in 1978

Still got them, and can't bear to part with them.

they sit alongside my S6e's and I still give em a work out from time to time, iether on their own or together with A+B switching..

It's astonishing how similar they sound in some respects

Wharfedale Dentons or maybe they were Lintons I honestly can't remember, nor do I know if they count as 'proper' speakers, partnered with a Sansui AU101 amp and Garrard AP76 deck.

All courtesy of a summer holiday supermarket job when I was 16!

A pair of JBL TLX 3GI's. Fantastic speakers at the time. In 1987 or something like that...

Monitor Audio R252. Big and beautiful black boxes. I still have them and they are still sounding grand.

Will prolly eBay them soon enough though.
