Dave,

I owned a SPM3300 the bigger intergrated, a SPM1200C & E

They were my dream amps, UNTIL I got them home, fast dynamic open, but thin and bright (in all but the most rich sounding systems) and IMO easily bettered

If you want something a little different, try Chapter Audio (Ex Chord guys)

Heard there power amp and Pre, not too shabby

Dave, The Chapter pre-face and couplet are reviewed in last months HFC (or News?)

I was very impressed with them at the Heathrow show. They also have the advantage of LOOKING absolutly stonking.

Dave phone Henley Designs . They used to disribute Chapter Audio but no longer do and are looking to shift stock at discount. From what i remember though retail price is about £4500-5000. Hardly something to add:p

Is there an announcement of this anywhere? is it just the amps?
While looking on the web today I saw phase three had an ex dem amp with what looked like £1,100 off so I called to buy it :cool:it had gone :(I said not supprised at that price. Roger said it was not as much off as I thought as the prices had come down he was not sure as to how much. So I called Chord they said it was about six months ago and was about 20%

The Chord CPM 2600 integrated amplifier from £3,600 to just under 3k which is not bad

Ive previously owned a CPA2200/SPM1200C combo and initially it was very impressive. Very good soundstage, grip and control by the bucketfull but ultimately once the novelty factor wore off I found them lacking a little soul. I have to agree with MrC in that they did on occasions sound a bit bright, not excessively but neverless enough to cause a distraction.

Summary - Nice but dull ....IMO
