You have a Lidl on the Isle of Mull :)

No, but there's a Lidl and an Aldi in Oban. And a Tesco. And soon an M&S. And a really good curry house. Quite the cosmopolitan metropolis these days.

Ah...but we do have locally produced isle of Mull haggis - reputedly very good, especially when washed down with a dram or three of Tobermory single malt

(The waffle shop is good too, but your cinema has a very sticky floor).

One hopes that isn't because of too many porno movies.... :?

Never been to the Oban cinema...but this week we had the roving "Screen Machine" - a converted artic that houses a 60 seater cinema - visiting Bunessan. Saw Darkest Hour and 3 Billboards on the same day. We've been to the cinema more often on Mull than we ever did in Manchester.

If you want full Internet access bring a wireless router RJ45 to Internet, not DSL to Internet, and buy one of these only £12 at ebuyer.com

https://www.ebuyer.com/743232-edimax-n300-mini-range-extender-ew-7438rpn-mini

Use a downloaded app on your phone to configure it to pick up the Hotel wifi, then connect a cable from it to the Internet access RJ45 port on the router. This will give you your own private lan for an LMS environment and access to streaming apps.
Dave

Which of the 3 operating modes would you use to achieve this? Presumably not wifi access point, but not obvious to me whether the right mode is extender or adapter.

Hi Dave

Just went through some of the accumulated cables , boxes etc I think all of us have I found an old Netgear N600 ADSL Router with Wan input which should be more than good enough to act as the router on the day .

This is just a mention for anyone travelling from the North West or using the M6 . While the hotel is easily accessed from the M1 the M6 through West Midlands is a well known traffic black spot . You can either plot a route to hit the M1 further north or my suggestion use the M6 South to Stoke A500 then take A500 then on to the A50 for Uttoxeter and that will lead you right to the round about the hotel is on from the opposite side of the M1 so again easy access .

Most days  the A500/50 is clear it is a full dual carriageway right to the end and you can drive as quickly as the Motorway . At present there are very few speed camera and the only ones I can rememebr are both well signposted before you get to them so just look out for the signs and maintain your legal speed .

That is very useful thank you Dave. I have bought one and will hopefully manage to use it at Kegworth. My only worry is that the speed of the Kegworth internet might not be good enough for streaming services like Tidal - would you happen to have any insight into this?

Cheers, I owe you a pint!

I intend to have a spare (3rd!) amp in my car, it is a serviced Quad 306 and of course tiny (well compared to the monsters we are using) so  should go under a car seat.

Struggling wammers welcome to borrow in an emergency of failing kit  :grrr:
