Yes, damned nice looker. Bet it sounds great too. Shame it's over £30k though...reckon they'd sell millions at that price.

Yes, an absolutely stunning looking car that'll start shedding pistons before you know it. :Upset:

I was in a fair bit of traffic this morning... The culprit? A broken down 2004 Alfa 156...
tongue.png

I'm speaking from experience, having owned a 156 from new and aused 147 with just 23k miles on the clock, when I say that you need to be prepared for a lot of pain and heartache when you own an Alfa.

In five years I had spent about 4k keepingmy 156road-worthy (big-ends went, suspension brushes replaced, selespeed gearbox with a mind of its own). In the space of two months ownership, my two-year old 147's water-pump failed and required2.5k's worth of repairs. I know a bloke who had an Alfa GT for about ayear. In that short spaceof time it had been in and out of Alfa eight times for all sorts of problems.

Personally, I think Alfa UK are a bunch of c*nts. I hate them. I used to be a massive fan. So much of a fan that I've had the (dis)pleasure of owning two. Never again!

It's amazing that Alfa can get away with selling such unreliable cars. Perhaps its because of idiots like me who don't (well didn't) know any better.

Rant over...

As an alfa owner should I sit back and wait for my invitation for a test drive? What a fabulous looking motor.

Well the 8C has two big advantages over its cheaper Alfa brethren. The first is that the engine has been in the Maserati in a slightly detuned form and seems to be reliable enough- not worrying 911's but able to generally start and work. The second is that in most cases its unlikely to be relied upon as a daily driver like the 159, Brera etc which should mean that on the occasions its called upon it might work properly.

Should the Euro Millions be kind this evening, I'd be sticking my name down. It would keep the SZ, RZ, Montreal, 33, Guilletta etc company.

I love Alfas. I've personally owned 3 (all Alfasuds) and never had any real problems. Also, used to stay in a flat where 3 out of 4 of us owned Suds.... none of us had probs. Mate had a Alfa 75 2.o twin spark - smashing car.

Alfa Romeo loose their way now (Alfa Arna anyone?) and then but when they get it right - they really get it right.

Would I have one - you bet!

Even those looks are not enough...

Yes yes, all very curvy !!!

Me ? I would spend 3 grand on one of these and the other £97,000 on a house or something.

0 - 60mph around 6.5 seconds or somethin (maybe quicker)

I admit, Alfa have made some nice lookin "normal" cars , 156 etc but would I buy one? no chance, as mentioned above, far to unreliable.

You just can't help but fall in love with their stunning looks though. As much as I hate their unreliability. The new 149 which is due at the end of next year is expected to look like this (with obvious design cues from the 8c):
