£m speaker cable £17,500

I assume that is a typo and you mean 3m Speaker cable £17,500?

Cos you had me really worried there for a minute I thought you meant £17,500 per metre, which would obviously just be silly!

C'mon boys don't nock it til you've heard it, it could turn a budget system into a world better and that would make it a bargain in my book:whistle:

To swap out speaker cable with my presentwire would require 2 X 3m runs, at a cost to me of £105,000. Four pairs of RCAs would then sting me a further £34,000.

SO, that's a total price of £139,000 on cables.

what an absolute joke.

Is there any other hobby/industry that makes a mockery of it's followers as much as 'hifi'?

The dumbest thing is that a 5 bob copper IC will sound 99% the same.

This is indeed for those rich tossers that need to have the best bragging rights.. watch as audiogon fills with valhalla

I would really love to know what 'research' goes into these, and whether the 'designers' actually believe they are creating a worthwhile product, or whether it is just a cynical 'lets buy some cable, put some wood bits around it and sell for as much as possible' decision in the Nordort boardroom

I am a cable believer, as you know, but this is just plain madness. I don't care what they are made out of, I don't care how much care goes into the design,I don't care how difficult the manufacturing process is.That is quite simply a piss take.

Let me think now: Phono to pre-amp, CD to pre-amp, loop to bi-amp and 2 pairs of 1m speaker. Plus a guess at the cost of a 2.5m pair for pre-to power comes to avery reasonable£110,000.00.
