Now you have no idea what this is about, well

Best 70's double albums, excluding live ones, I'll start you in no order

Lamb Lies Down, Quadrophenia, The Wall, Tales from Topographic Oceans, Physical Graffiti.

Actually this is a rubbish topic, don't bother.

On the other hand I did mis-type one which amused me and is a better idea.

"The lamb lies, Don!" or for our Yorkshire friends

T"Wall

I don't have vinyl - sold it all. But I do have double and triple CDs in my opera collection.

So my best picks...

- Janacek The Cunning Little Vixen on Supraphon

- Wagner Die Meistersinger, Solti (2) on Decca

If you're going to unfairly exclude live albums, then I'd struggle to argue with that list TBH, apart from Graffiti, which I've never rated.

"The Wall" is OK. I don't know any of the others.

Tom Waits is top! :notworthy:

Oh alright then I will fairly include the unfairly dismissed live albums and raise you Made In Japan, Seconds Out, Yesshows, Kiss Live (not really)

Quadrophenia and then Physical Graffiti, I have both on vinyl. Never really liked the others and never owned them.

Exile on Main Street would be another one, some may prefer, I have on cd.

Tom Waits doubles, struggling there but with CD many would be double vinyl.

Although I rate(d) Floyd my favourite band I was a little disappointed with The Wall, never really known why.

There are lots of live doubles. Van Morrison, the Allman Brothers, Frampton, Thin Lizzy, Lynyrd Skynynd, Bob Seger and one of the best Little Feat.

The Who Live at Hull?

Is there a poll for this sort of stuff or not enough interest.

Just be a way of broadening interests.

I have this on CD so wasn't sure.  Played this to my uncle years ago and he loved it, he thought he was a rocker.

The Lamb and Tales are top for me, but Exile on Main Street is pretty good!

"London Calling" by The Clash is also excellent.
For a man of my age it is shameful to say i have heard neither of the last two, how is that possible?

Being a youngster (!) and not having had much exposure to the wonderful albums mentioned above at the time, I'm just going to plump for Grease: the Motion Picture soundtrack. First album I ever owned (my mum bought it for me) and I still have it, albeit in rather scabby condition

OK, the only double album I remember owning was Dylan's Blonde on Blonde - that was good but probably before the 70s.
