Are you on about andy1444@hotmail or something similar?

I had an online chat with an eBay rep yesterday about him as basically he is screwing up the whole of the UK audio section on eBay.

What was the outcome of the chat ?

I agree with your comments re. screwing things up, this single fuckwit, or collection of fuckwits are really starting to get my goat. Whichever do-gooder decided to rubber stampthe allocationto their village ofelectricity and 'the telephone'needs a good kicking too...

So which is the best place to whinge to e-bay about this matter

I set up a couple of hotmail accounts and emailed them a bit back. From what I could ascertain the emails originated in Rumania (although you can spoof a few of the headers if you've a mind to), which isn't a surprise. There are some quite technically minded Rumanian groups specialising in ATM fraud and suchlike.

Sid.

It was one of those live chat things I don't know if you have ever used one, a bit like MSN but through the browser.

I explained about the andy scammer and provided a link using an advanced search on his hotmail account, there were 214 hifi items!

The person on the other end said they took this sort of thing seriously and would investigate it.

I then said that basically I had shopped this guy 60 times and was getting tired of constantly policing for eBay and perhaps they should do something more than simply taking down the auctions.

They said that there are things they can do, but what they cannot do is stop the general public from giving away their passwords on phishing scams, which IMO is fair enough.

Anyhow, time will tell, but if all they do is take down the auctions, all this guy will do is change his hotmail account, which looks like he has already.

remember folks, NEVER LINK TO eBay FROM AN EMAIL, EVER!!!!

I spoke to eBay twice yesterday to report this same guy. They do take the listings off but I guess it does little to boost confidence in their system.

I've also had many many attempts to Phish my account in the last couple of days.

Its usually really simple, any email that comes to you should never link to 'my eBay'

You might get ones that link to an item, fair enough, but any that wants to link to 'my eBay' should never be clicked.

Usually it will go to a login page, this is not a genuine login page, all you do is hand over your details.

For safety any information coming to you from the genuine eBay can be found in 'my eBay' under messages. Simple navigate to eBay via your browser, you can find all genuine information there.

This is a very simple precaution and will protect you from 99.99% of phishing scams out there.

Remember, Andy1444 and all the rest of those scamming bastards are only successful because they lured people into giving over their details, don't be one of them, never link to eBay from an email.

Can anybody tell me HOW to report an obvious scam to e-bay? I've looked at their contact pages dozens of times- what they don't seem to have is a clear link allowing you to report what is obviously a dodgy deal. I'm not sure they're bothered either; they could easily "buy" one of these items themselves & take up matters with the authorities later.

I would provide a link here but most forums trim the link so it does not go on for 6 pages, and this forum does not, and I don't know how to make my links short 'cause I is a berk.

Otherwise I have the link.
