If you're looking for a very good, reasonably price DAC, perhaps the SMSL SU-8 is for you?
The DAC specifications are very good.
SPDIF, USB and Coaxial inputs, RCA and balanced XLR outputs.
The unit is small, light and compact and I would say a couple of downsides are that the the display is difficult to read from a distance and heavy cables can overbalance it, so careful positioning can be important.
Note that this is the 10th anniversary edition of the DAC. I believe this is also known as the V2 version.
For those f you who are interested in fidelity accuracy and measurements, have a look at the ****************** site.
The unit is in very clean, unmarked condition.
Original box, remote, power and (cheap) USB cable.
Asking £145 delivery included.
The DAC specifications are very good.
- ESS technology ES9038Q2M DAC, with the new 32-bit HyperStream II architecture, improving sound quality and DoP function.
- 2nd generation of XMOS USB audio solution xCore200, PCM sampling rate supported up to 32bit/768kHz and DSD up to DSD512.
- Ultra-low jitter asynchronous design and using ultra-low phase noise crystal as audio clock.
- Every input port supported DSD streaming, coaxial and optical supported to DSD64 by DoP technology via 24bit/176.4kHz SPDIF frame.
- There is 9 types of Sound color setting, not the digital filters, this feature using the DSP of ES9038Q2M to adjust the level of 2nd and 3rd distortion, make it sounds different.
