Now seeking £1850 or offers or sensible exchange offers; discounts for established Wammers, see in-store for details. Terms and conditions apply.. Location Leicestershire.
EDIT: I can't believe this gorgeous piece of visual and sonic hifi porn is still here. Now willing to entertain sensible swap conversations. Sensible, meaning no 100-er conkers and no dead frogs; I already have a shed full of these.
For all intents and purposes, I suggest you think of this as a Chardonnay http://www.supratek.com.au/: Mick informs me it is a Sauvignon but it must be an early one as it doesn't resemble the later Sauvignons; the difference from Chadonnay appears to be the handy balanced XLR outputs. Over and above that standard spec, key capacitors have been replaced with Rike Audio and Dueland silver foil caps.
5 x RCA in, tape loop, 2x RCA and 1x XLR out. Gain switches on rear (5-position) and top to alter both gain and tone.
Fabulous condition except for split in power button which I would replace if keeping: it's rock solid, a cosmetic issue only, mentioned for completeness. Any weird "scratches" or whatever in the photos are simply tricks of the light on the stainless steel chassis.
IMHO this is the best looking tube pre out there by some margin - and it sounds as good as it looks. These amps have a stellar reputation and new ones have a waiting list of months. Mick is a revered one-man band.
Resident tubes are
All are well within spec. I will also provide a new JJ GZ34 and the original fit Sovtek 6L6WCG x2.
I have a factory-matched boxed and unused pair of Psvane CV-181 which retail for £199. These are NOT included in the asking price but can be included at £150 - I seek £175 if sold separately but won't shift these until the pre has gone so the pre purchaser has priority.
Comes with original "manual" (typed sheet, hand-drawn schematic, a couple of errors!), umbilical and remote.
Temperamental original (and cheap and tacky) remote replaced with an equally simple but far lovelier one; all working nicely.
As you might expect, I would strongly prefer collection rather than shipping but it got here from Germany safely so we can probably find a way at your cost and risk.
