I just looked up the meaning of pontificating........

I am way above my ability in English. I will get on with working out the best way to add chocolate to a stout.

Home-brewing well worth the initial outlay-time-hassle, BUT:

  - too easy to enjoy the product, so my last brew was last March ...

a)2 plastic Wilko 40pt + barrels at c. £20 each

b)some tubing for syphoning etc

c)cheap Asda 'Little Gem' or something nappie-sterilizing tabs redone in storage-plastic bottle every 3 months

d)left-over plastic nappy-bucket with lid for initial 14-day ish fermentation

e)home-made ex-metal-hangar-rubber-banded J-cloth in-barrel brush ...

Even using cheapest finest 40 pts monthly home-brew kits-39p a brew sugar kg ...

Still sticking to cheap cider 10-20 units weekly, plus top-up of cheap adequate Scotch (40 units Aldi monthly max.).

Over 4 days each 7.

... Just testing again Greene King 'Abbot Ale' tins about £4.75-£5.00 for 4 x 500ml =

Not bad/like the tin/have contacted Greene King online weeks ago to translate the Latin (I already did...) -

Greene King reply = gobbledydook attachment ...

Fruitcake my arse though - like wine-single malt overpriced-descriptions ???

Still prefer (if not brewing ale), Tanglefoot or Spitfire.

ABBOT ALE tin =

Have tried 1 of each so far/still resisting home-brewing again.

Was given a bottle of Plymouth Gin on Christmas day - magnificent/lasted us a week before returning to Aldi now £14.99 litre of Highland Earl whisky monthly (to go with 2 litres weekly of Taurus/bit of tinned beer every now and tonight for BBC footie).

We drank more units when home-beautifully-brewing - now we have 10-28 units weekly bought stuff.

WINE-Champers - pah!!!
