And I may give a fuck, but I doubt it.

I've given out too much rep, so have a virtual one anyway!

Thanks. Interesting, but is there anything non-German that can legitimately be regarded as 'Q' material?

My Mark II 1968 Cortina. Externally standard, with the exception of 5.5J wheels, but with 120bhp (a lot in those days) engine (twin ex Alfa Romeo Weber 42DCOE, high lift cam, ported and gas-flowed head, banana bunch exhaust) and a Mk1 Lotus Cortina close-ratio gearbox.

Great fun, except for the 19mpg. :x

Thanks. Having asked the original question, I'm now wondering if there have ever been any French Q cars? (Really quick Renaults, Citroens or Peugeots... or others?). Or Italian? Obviously not Ferraris, etc. but an unexpectedly quick Italian? Sweden? Volvos has been mentioned and I suppose turbo Saabs took people by surprise early on but they're known about now. Anywhere else?

The Renault Safrane BiTurbo was pretty Q. 260bhp and it looked as boring as any other Safrane. Very, very rare even when new.

Even rarer- 1,000 made plus 60 for the French Police as pursuit specials is the 405 T16. Full time 4wd and 220bhp available for 45 seconds on overboost. I recall reading a print test of it against the end of the line Sapphire Cosworth and the conclusion being that it was undoubtedly more fragile but dynamically superior to the Ford. It also looked incredibly dull;

Renault 5 Turbo, Peugeot 205 T16 also fit into Q car territory but are very expensive now.
