I've never heard of these guys or the recording label, Leaf Music - but this is wonderful musicianship beautifully recorded!

The second movement to the second concerto is particularly good, both in terms of playing and recording.

Rediscovering this excellent set of Beethoven piano sonatas by Maria Grinberg, in decent Soviet stereo sound.

Review here - https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/why-did-the-soviets-not-want-us-to-know-about-the-pianist-maria-grinberg-

Maria Yudina - a remarkable woman and a remarkable pianist.
Soviet era - she openly stood up to Stalin and survived.
I'm not sure if she was deliberately immensely brave or just totally bloody-minded!  Probably both.

Described as "a titan of the keyboard", her playing of Bach here is quite astonishing.
The sound quality is mostly good, with a few wobbly patches.

WtC and the Goldbergs in quite remarkable performances, imo.

I listened to no.3. Wonderful; Bach does seem to transcribe to other instruments seamlessly. I have been listening to Chris Thiles playing the Bach sonatas and Partitas for solo violin on a mandolin. It sounds bizarre but works very well, and gives one a chance to understand thus extraordinary music from a different perspective.
