A delightfully autumnal set of mostly gentle orchestral tone poems by Australian composer Mark John Mcencroe.

The album cover image says it all.

Wow! That is impressive!  Do you even have time to brush your teeth?

It’s only about 20minutes long, otherwise I would have stretched it out, so 6 performances is just over 2 hours - not too bad!

Doing it this way meant I had some musical memory of previous versions played.

The Stokowski version is interesting - recorded on 35mm film and engineered to 24bit 96000k in 1959. The clarity is amazing, and this version edged into 2nd place for me.

Aaron Copland : The Red Pony Suite. Buffalo Phil. JoAnn Falletta.

(Missed the movie on Film4 yesterday - but the music compensates.)

Philip Glass : Satyagraha

EDIT:

Satyagraha on the schedule at ENO this Autumn - well worth seeing if you can.

Also, just now Orange Mountain Music has released the version by the New York Metropolitan Opera on both cd and dvd - available from Naxosdirect.co.uk in UK.
