Superb stuff - sound ok but performance…..wow.

Right now Gabriel Pierné: Nocturne en forme de valse (for piano). Included on this album of his 'orchestral works'. The opening three tracks Paysages Franciscains are really good. Impressionistic in tone, but somewhat like Florent Schmitt's orchestrations for Antonie et Cleopatra, especially the last one.

Most of the other pieces include piano and are like those fantasia-type one-movement works a lot of "fin de siècle" French composers wrote in reaction to the standard piano concerto.
