Haha - I’ll trust that you’ll believe when I say the cushion fetish is not mine! Happy to take credit for the speakers though, they’re Mark Audio/Sota Cesti MB. Remarkable things, and an absolute Billy Bargain from @orangeart, here.

This review pretty much nails it imo, note the RRP in comparison to Stefan’s beer money price.

What?1k speaking going for 285?? Really? Spec says it goes down to 40hz...curious if you feel the bass is sufficient Jake?

That’s amazing set up. Curious how that valve preamp plays with those solid state monos

I only spent couple hours with l300 preamp, but many good things are obvious already. Soundstaging improved dramatically, fantastic holographic imaging compared to other preamps I tried. Any harshness I was getting is pretty much eliminated now.

Certainly not missing too much here. They stop and start so quickly that’s there’s real control and tune to the bass, Which helps for sure.

I’m a smitten kitten. Expect me to go on about these for a while :D

With Vu meters .....oooooooooooo 😁😁

I applied some transparent red film to them, rather than change internal resitors on the LEDs, and the dull orange colour is just right for me.  As I listen in the dark, mainly, having the meters about the same light level as the valve heaters works well.

I had Celestes first, then I got the Concords, and because my JA-S11G would drive 2 sets of speakers I had the bigger ones on the front L&R and the smaller ones on the rear L&R. Made it sound HUGE. My dad liked my KEFs so he bought a pair of Celestes, but sometime later he told me that my mum didn't like the look of them so he was going to replace them and would I like to give them a home? Well, yes I did want to give them a home but I was always sorry that he replaced them with a much smaller pair of speakers that didn't have half the bass of the KEFs. The floor footprint of the stands he had them on was just the same as that of the KEFs, so there was no real space saved, he'd just exchanged bass response for a wood finish (instead of black cloth) and a lack of nagging.

I've still got all 3 sets of speakers, and although I love my mum to bits (dad departed this life some 20 years ago) I've not let her forget that it was because of her that dad had to let his Celestes go.

I think my Concords have seen better days. They're a bit wobbly on their stands, and the cloth covers have been catted somewhat. Although they are now being driven by the Arcam, a Quad 303 also sounds nice with them.

My new preamp arrived today. Thanks wammer egduff for such a smooth and pleasant transaction! It is much bigger and heavier than I thought. Had short listen and I'm very impressed already.
