Had a bit of a change-around.

Gone from the Class A (Push / Pull) of the EAR V20 to Technics Class D...

Technics SU-R1000 / Technics SL-G700

Really pleased so far.

The cartridge and speaker calibration process was quite interesting. Sounds fantastic with the Apheta 3.

The streamer OS is very slow and the Technics app isn't the best I've used.

I think I'll end up building a Rasberry Pi DAC+ and use as a Roon endpoint.

Just picked up this set of cans off eBay

Very crisp sound with vv good bass though hard to drive from my iPad so may need an external DAC/ amp to get the best from them

I've just received a Hana ML cartridge and mounted and aligned it. It replaces the Hana SL which was no slouch - however this one delivers everything the SL did but in spades!

Yes it's a great cart from the off, though a little upfront in a hey look at me sort of way to my ears during break-in. However you wait until it gets to the 60+ hrs point, it really opens up and smooths out, keeping the detail and party spirit but doing so in a more mature manner.

Stack of current favourite preamps, placed immediately next to my listening chair as two of them don't have remote control and I prefer to adjust volume level from my chair.

From the top, Chinese stepped passive with remote handset & twin piggies, Concordant Exhilarant valve pre, Densen DM20 solid state.

I can swap between them in about 30 seconds, including valve power amps' warmup

The differences in sonic presentation are subtle but quite noticeable. I find that I stay with one for about a week then do a swap to enjoy the presentation of one of the others.

The most euphonic, to my ears, is the Densen, surprisingly. A definite touch of added niceness, 'pretty' is the word that came to mind when I swapped over to it yesterday. The best clarity is from the passive, with a touch of added zing. The Concordant falls in between, almost as transparent as the passive but with an extra soupcon of dynamic push and 3D imagery, and would probably be my choice if I only kept one.

Lamp doesn't fit in the corner I bought it for, so now I have a TT lamp.
