Rega Planar 1 hardware issue

Problem with a Rega P1 Queen edition.

I have just tracked down a Queen edition turntable which had never been opened. I'm really pleased with the sound, especially having upgraded the cartridge. BUT after a few albums the plastic spindle at the top of the motor, the one which holds and drives the belt, works itself loose and comes away. The drive is then of course lost.

Is this a common problem?

How annoying!  I think your post might have got noticed more in the main ‘2 channel’ section, but that said I don’t remember any regulars here with a Planar 1.

I think you’re describing the motor pulley.  Is it fastened by anything visible, like a grub screw, as I suspect it’s a friction fit?  A dab of superglue might fix it but I’d get advice first because if it’s even a tiny bit out you’ve had it!

If you didn’t buy from a dealer I’d be straight onto Rega themselves.

Welcome to the Wam, and I hope you get it sorted.

Super Wammer

A bit of googlage reveals this.  Is this yours?  Please see the comments, which echoed my thoughts about glue.
