Recommend a Decent Small Form factor DAC?

I know it's counterintuitive but battery supplies like this aren't necessarily better that supplies plugged into the mains. This is because rather than the battery actually directly powering the device I think they actually power an SMPS that then provides a regulated supply.

(There's measurement data for an example somewhere on ASR but I can't find it quickly.)

Mojo is designed to be charged by a 5v usb connection so would normally  be powered/charged by pc or wall/phone charging device

As mojo is portable charging by battery bank is a handy option for extending use when away from the mains.

Not sure if the OP realises he can charge and use at the same time.

Allo.com are just about to release their Revolution dac which has been designed to work with their Pi based streamers. It can be powered by their Shanti LPS which has 2 rails, one for powering the DAC, and one for the Pi.

There’s a gag in there somewhere but yes you’re right, I do need something smaller than the usual suspects

I could lend you my Pro-Ject DAC Box S FL to have a, play with as it's sat doing nothing at the moment. (optical & Coax only) Either pick up from Keggy or could post, it will definitely fit in the space you have with room to spare (roughly 100x100x25).

Might even be persuaded to part with it permanently if you like what it does.

Yes but it doesn't sound like the OP wants it to be portable.

A wee DAC for Weeman......Your search ends here:

https://www.khadas.com/tone

As you've got a case this is the one for you.

A few people have recommended the Toneboard to me so might give it a go

That’s a wonderful offer thank you John. I don’t think I can attend Keggy this year otherwise might have taken you up on it but as it would involve posting etc which I don’t ever trust at the best of times, I’ll probably decline but thanks again, really appreciated

How about a Kerces  http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0808/keces_da151.htm   one for sale here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Keces-DA-131-DAC-24-Bit-192-Khz-Burr-Brown-PMC1793-OPA604-Cirrus-Logic-CS816/184198372392?hash=item2ae3141c28:g:h~cAAOSwJU5dvDgw

or how about a Rega https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rega-DAC-Digital-To-Analogue-Converter-Colour-Black-Prestine-condition-250/274294409031?hash=item3fdd388747:g:v-0AAOSwLl5eS8~Q

There is a Deltec little bit on ebay as well - (particular fsv or mine)

The choices are many - and the differences between DACs is not as great as someone would have you believe (IMO - and dons hard hat for the bombs about to be thrown by others).

Thanks all for the suggestions.

I’ve opted for a Khadas Tone Board with my Pi and first impressions are very good.

I’ve also changed speakers cable today so once everything is bedded in will be interesting to see what noticeable differences there are over my old DAC and cables.
