Help me choose a turntable..

Recommended Posts

Diane is adamant that my inspire/LP12 cannot be on permanent display....it will be resigned to the man cave.. this is the only turntable I have used for 40yrs

So c'mon guys and gals

What turntable should I choose..second hand ,

The term Diane has quoted is an industrial engineering look..whatever that means ffs

Second hand £3500 budget...could squeeze a bit more for the right turntable

 With worried anticipation ..

Kindest regards Julian

would a michell fit the description? Certainly fits the engineered description, probably the gyro more than the orbe.

Clearaudio Verify?

I would have no idea whether they'd sound good together.... But they both look awesome!

How about trading the wife in?

If that is not an option Michell's are quite pretty or VPI Prime are a bit industrial.

Maybe show her some images and see what is acceptable.

I don’t get it? I thought the LP12 had the least industrial look of all?

Anyway ... I’d consider a Roksan Xerxes 20 with an Audiomods arm

plenty of colour options to suit

Has to be a Michell or an SME - doesn't it?  Thank god my missus never insists on looks when it comes to hifi (perhaps that is why we have been together for 49 years lol)

Buy something cheap that looks industrial and sounds rubbish so that you get to bring the LP12 back (assuming Diane doesn’t like it)

Otherwise Michell would look good and maybe you would like the sound. Or an Oracle but have never heard one. I did hear an Avid and Michell together but found the Avid sounded more hifi than music. I know it’s a bullshit statement. How about bland matter of fact detail instead?

Would be good to get an idea of what she means by industrial as someone else said a Garrard replinthed might be good. I would add a replinthed Lenco to that but it might be the wrong sort of industrial. A Lenco or Garrard would give the excitement of an LP12 but in a different flavour.
