For something a bit more "out there" , maybe try some Pharaoh Sanders or Herbie Hancock

you may want to try this, she is one of the new stars on the London jazz scene.

She's great, radio6 have been playing her quite a bit recently.

I've been listening to this album for a month or so and it just gets better and better. Massive Yusef Lateef influence which can never be a bad thing.

Ruby Rushton are one of my favourite contemporary jazz groups. Ed Cawthorne (aka Tenderlonious) is a very talented individual. If you like Yusef Lateef you might want to investigate this.
