How would I do that? Highest shown on my Grace DAC is 192. (The Mutec has higher numbers but it’s not a DAC)

Which model? The m900 takes up to 384kHz over USB.

m903

Also I hope its S-Lock technology doesn't undo my external clocking O.o

(and thanks for helping)

Thanks but I don’t like the idea of MQA much.

To fully get into this living room wordclock malarkey my DAC needs to have a BNC Wordclock in (and or not strip off the incoming wordclock to use its own)

I gave a Mytek Stereo192 DAC to a chum a few years back, I just contacted him to ask if he was actually using it - he said no - so it will be with me in a few days.

System should then be

Qobuz - Macbook Pro USB out

USB into Mutec MC3+USB+ (with bnc connection to Mutec REF10 SE120)

AES into Mytek Stereo192 DAC (with bnc connection to Mutec REF10 SE120)

The m903 is limited to 24/192.

If you are using USB then a reclocker won't be doing much.

What do you expect to gain by inserting the Mutec and use S/PDIF?

MPB USB'ed straight into the Mytek should do just as well if not better (I'm betting on the latter).

Well I will be looking for better sound!

But I will also test if I DON'T get better sound. (by comparing to just USB into Mytek)

I would be testing:

Configuration A

Mutec MC3+USB (with an external 'master' clock attached to Mutec by BNC cable) outputting reclocked USB from Macbook as an 110 ohm AES/EBU digital XLR output cable

Mytek 192 DAC receiving input from an 110 ohm AES/EBU digital XLR cable   (Mytek also with an external 'master' clock attached by BNC cable)

Configuration B

Mytek with Macbook's USB going straight into it.

-------------------------------

The above fits nicely with the threads topic I feel. (Experiments with reclocking )

Most albums seem to be available with and without MQA.

Sorry, but did I miss the bit where you actually bought a REF10 SE120???

You mean MBP, Macbook Pro, I presume.

Why would it do better? Doesn't that bypass the reclocking bit entirely?

What I meant to say is that the Macbook Pro to Mytek USB connection should be better than the Mutec reclocked S/PDIF connection.

And has have mentioned previously I don't think that the digital signal is the right place to add Moussaka. One should strive to get the most out of the source beforehand.

Sorry, @tuga, but you're in a thread about reclocking.

I'm sure what you meant to say therefore is "why not use the USB connection from the Macbook Pro to the Mutec MC-3+ USB instead of the SPDIF?"

This isn't "Moussaka" which refers to tonal differences to suit individual tastes. This is just better music, period, regardless of personal preference.

If MBP is MacBook Pro then there is a fair to moderate chance that it has a noisy USB output and this might be the worst option especially if it is plugged into a charger. However some laptops do have relatively noise free output if they are used on battery only but not all are equal.

No point in reclocking USB.
