hesitant to mount my Sound Organisation LP12 wall rack

Recommended Posts

I have been listening to my new Radikal-ized and Karousel-ized LP-12 on top of my equipment rack.

Unfortunately footfalls are make me have to tip toe to change records. I have my old Sound Organization rack that worked perfectly at my old house. Unfortunately I have plaster walls with this really weird aluminum lathe backing it that makes it next to impossible to locate the wall studs.

This type of listening where I can't jump up and down is driving my crazy and also I cannot have a party while it it like this.

Please encourage me! From, Bill in Ohio, USA.

Super Wammer

Having a dedicated stand for your LP12 should sound better than having it share a stand with other components. Light and rigid is the key to a good LP12 stand.

Fit a spreader plate to the wall with suitable fixings to spread the load. Then fit the wall shelf to this.

This is an example of what I describe.

The aluminum lath is nailed in place with steel nails.  A small, very strong, magnet (eg a neodymium) magnet should be able to hold on the wall where the nails/staples are located.
