Might get up to ten by the end of the day, after about 3 hours study of Linn Nomenclature history.

Now that would make an interesting specialist subject for Mastermind! :D

Not sure really, not good TV when the LINN geek only gets 2 questions correct out of 20 questions asked ! Its up there with Quantum Mechanics in the difficulty quota.

@Moomintroll always a dream to get and also a Linn connection as they used to do the sound systems in the AMs.

@Chris 1970 I see the Nordost has moved up to the system part of your list, have you decided after home demo they are to keep then ?

Normally you're very happy to see others enjoying their systems & music and their enthusiasm about it.

Yes I do, normally 😊

I believe that  @Flatcoat effectively did this, as he used to have 350s IIRC and has ended up with a KDSM/3/Hub and 530s and has previously reported that it was the best sounding system he’d owned.

I am glad Flatcoat is enjoying his KDSM/3/Hub and 530’s combination

Do you think it is good advice to suggest people sell everything, to get a NGKDSM and connect them to 530’s? I think most people that take that advice may end up deeply disappointed with their Linn system

I would never sell my Akubariks to upgrade to a NGKSH and pair it with 530’s. It would be a serious downgrade IMHO

Would you recommend that someone with Komris with 8 Solos, Katalyst Exaktboxes and a 2018 variant Klimax System Hub sell their whole setup and buy a NGKSH with 530s or 520’s as a superior choice

Should people with Organik 350’s, Katalyst Akubariks or Katalyst Akudoriks sell their speakers to buy 530’s or other Linn speakers such as Majik 140’s or Kans, so the can have the NGKDSM or NGKSH?

I believe in source first, and obviously a good source is essential to great sound quality, but at the expense of going for lesser speakers than what many people already own?

Hey! Leave me out of this. You made a point - I made an observation that someone had actually gone against what you had said and reported excellent results. So, not exactly in line with your belief. People should hear with their own ears and not outbursts on a forum.

Would I recommend such a step to someone? If they heard the KDSM/3 and couldn’t be without what it did, but couldn’t possibly afford it, then it’s something they should consider. I’ve said before, when I first heard the CD12 that, if I were starting afresh, then I would have had a CD12, small Linn amp and small Linn speakers, depending on my budget, rather than my Karik/Numerik, Kairn, Klouts , Kabers I had at the time.

Source First and less hifi and more music.

You don’t have to agree, but neither do people have to agree with you.

In actual fact I think I would pick latest kdsm3 with 520, to akubariks with akurate hub.

Having owned the Akurate EDSM, 530s, Akubariks, and NG KSH, the one that I wouldn't give up would be the NG KSH. If need be, I'd do whatever financially to keep it.

I started that thread but was soon squeezed out by some very expensive "pandemic upgrades." :D

I did some LP12 listening last night.

I listened closely to hear the difference between the LP12 and DS. Here's what I came up with:

LP12 seems to be more complete and whole as far as the music is concerned. There is just a bit (PNI) more musical information (192/24 vs 44/16). The sound is fuller.

DS seems to have a slight advantage in timing and dynamics. The music just has a nice rhythm to it. It just make me want to dance.

I can't say that one is better than the other. I think it very fair to allow personal preference to dictate.

I’ve just been thinking about this whilst walking the pup. If my financial position changed drastically, the first part of my system to go would be LP12.
