New listings of equipment, by country, type etc.

Recommended Posts

If you like lists or directories (rather than YouTube reviews!) then you might enjoy this as I have.  It’s apparently quite new, and although we can argue about the accuracy I found it fun, and quite heartwarming, to see so many brands, whatever the category.

Strangely interesting.

Informative, too. Some makes I hadn't come across before.

And I didn't know that Vivid, JBL and Gallo were British.

Indeed, there are some oddities and doubtless some mistakes too.  I saw that some brands, like Braun, are explained as being owned by a British brand. Some of the other categories are less complete too, but given we often read what a minority interest we pursue there do seem to be a vast number of businesses - cottage to multinational - working in it all over the globe.

The site is quite an achievement for one person!

Some interesting brands both domestic and studio ....nice to find one that manufacturers a passive studio bass speaker using the Volt  18” driver that I’ve been tweaking for the past 2 years

Well Jane seems pleased with your numerous experiments.

I like the S Korean company Bakoon's strap line: For Ears and Years.

It's tricky to attribute nationality to some brands these days. Marantz, for instance: started off as a US brand, then became Dutch, and is now Japanese.

By the same measure, Tannoy should be considered a Filipino brand 🤔

Very odd site, but I love it.  Under Speakers from the Netherlands I spotted these dinkly little ones but no maker mentioned.  I think I need a pair - any idea who builds them?  Oddly no mention of Dutch & Dutch speakers.

And no mention of another of my favourite eccentricities from the Netherlands - Blanko Nu speakers.  Full-range Active electrostatics with valve amplification.  Probably not very dog, child or hoover-friendly!

My word. The throne is just out of shot to the right me thinks.

They look about 10 feet tall.

Electric Beach! New one on me

No mention of  My Audio Design or Audio Smile - both British designed and built speakers that I happen to own.

For a moment I thought they were Metaxas Sirens:
