Reisong A10 Tube Rolling

Just wondering if there are any other Reisong A10 owners on the forum who can give me some advice on tube rolling, particularly the EL34 power tubes, I’ve already changed the pre tubes to good effect to Voshkod Rockets. Ideally I don’t want used tubes or any that are too expensive, I’ve seen some EL34s on ebay for as much as £150 each

Really looking to get a bit more bite at the top end.

Would also be interested to know if there’s any benefit to changing the rectifier tube.

I don't own a Reisong but I do have amplifiers and a preamp that use EL34 tubes. The usually recommended ones are the Svetlana winged =C= which I have a few of but I am using Shuguang EL34A tubes in my power amps which I pefer to the Svetlanas. The EL34A are old production and in my amps sound great. I have also found that the newer JJ EL34II sound very good. These have crimped plates rather than the spot welds. How they would work for you might be another matter.

https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/tubes-valves/298145-chinese-el34b-se-a10-disection.html Here's a thread with the schematic.

https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/6n2-tube-replacement.101311/ Thread on tube rolling. Suggestion is Russian 6N2P-EV. Or if they exist, 6N2P-DR. And 6V4G rectifier.

I'd recommend TAD EL34, by far the best  clarity and dynamic nuance I've heard from the valve type. I'm not usually an EL34 fanboy, but the TADs were very enjoyable.

Hotrox has them for about £50 a matched pair. https://www.hotroxuk.com/tube-amp-doctor-el34b-str-premium.html

Thanks for the link and the recommendation Jerry, they're certainly in the sort of ballpark with regards to the price that I was looking for, wonder what amp you used them in ?

Aren't these just re-branded Shuguang EL34B

Yes, I believe so.

TAD say they "select" the valves they sell, and my ears tell me that this is so - it's seldom that a TAD valve of any type doesn't sound really good. Where "really good" for me means clarity, speed, openness, 3D imaging.

Hearing my 1st TAD valve, at a bake-off, was one of those jaw drop moments for me - I can't even recall the amp now, but various 12ax7 were slotted in. Some good, some not so good.... then the TAD went in and a gloriously natural and vivid 3D soundstage suddenly opened up. Whoosshhhhh!

TAD have been my goto brand ever since, I'm seldom disappointed.

At that price, I'd be happy having a couple of spares
