What has made my system suddenly sound so good?

+1 for what Nopiano & uzzy said.

A receptive mood and a general feeling of all is well can go a long way to helping everything sound better, and this can become a cumulative effect.

Also i do think that speaker material is affected by temperature, and you may be experiencing a sweet spot.

Whatever it is, enjoy.

It's very easy to get carried away with the audio assessment / system upgrading side of the hobby, become obssessed with tweaks, spend all one's time listening for minute changes and completely lose the habit of listening for pleasure.

We play the same, often audiophile-approved tracks, ad nauseum with our critic's hat on and never really sit down and enjoy good music...

Prior posts refer - I finally got my dream power amp a few months ago and I have been in love ever since.  However of the last few days it seems my system is sounding even better and not insignificantly so.  It's gone from excellent to staggering; more detail, blacker blacks, more space between the sofa and the cushions to lose stuff down - the full beans of audiophile nonsense words.

But, nothing has changed.  I run a cheap Chinese DAC, Roon, HQP and a couple of turntables, modest speakers etc all hooked up by just about the cheapest interconnects and speaker cable that I could find (Van Damme, Mogami and KabelDirekt) but all into (on paper) a massively over-specced amp.  So what could have caused this change?  I have a few ideas (note they are all as daft as each other):

1/ I have changed energy suppliers recently so maybe their electricity is higher quality

2/ My internet is delivering cleaner 1's & 0's (although this doesn't explain the turntables)

3/ Even cheap interconnects and speaker cable burn in (if this is the case at least they are cheap to replace when they burn out)

4/ The Chinese have snuck in via a back door built into the DAC predominantly to spy on me but in fact have updated the firmware (again doesn't explain the turntables)

5/ I have finally stopped worrying about whether my system could sound even better (still mulling pre-amps and speakers) and have kicked back and started just enjoying what I have got

6/ A big lump of ear wax has fallen out of each ear

Any other suggestions?
