Linn Ekstatik & new Radikal

Recommended Posts

Edit 22/11: it seems Loud and Clear may have jumped the gun today and this was probably still embargoed info at the dealers. They have taken down their Facebook post already so probably best to delete this for now and give Linn a chance to announce this properly. What a shame.

Edit: 23/11: The LP12 Facebook group admins “have it on good authority there is no infraction”.

So here is the information back…

D55-D4-A1-A-3-C64-49-E2-A891-70-D60-B888

Ekstatik new reference moving coil cartridge:

~ Skeletonised body to achieve ideal overall mass.

~ A micro-ridge stylus on a sapphire cantilever makes for an extraordinarily responsive cartridge, with less loss between the stylus and the generator.

~ Features aluminium-bronze inserts, to reap the sonic benefits of this alloy.

~ Bespoke honeycomb cut into the cartridge body reduces mass to preferred sweet spot of c7g.

~ Unique construction creates superb synergy with Ekos SE headshell – wicking away more unwanted resonances out through the sub-chassis.

~ Designed to outperform Linn Kandid MC cartridge.

RRP £5,500

New Radikal 'hyper-accurate' speed management:

~ Sustained rotation closer to 33⅓rpm than ever before, thanks to a hyper-accurate and responsive FPGA-managed motor control unit, Linn's most precise and responsive MCU ever.

~ New housing decouples the motor from the deck more effectively.

~ Precision engineered motor produces ultra-smooth rotation.

~ All new 6-layer board facilitates shorter signal paths, smaller componentry and minimal overall noise, via dedicated ground and power planes.

~ Quieter, regulated supply rails have the added halo effect of improving sound quality from Urika/Urika II phono stages.

RRP £4250 in Akurate casework, £6500 in Klimax casework

D'oh! (I just bought a Klimax Radikal) I should've listened to myself on this one. I had heard speculation from a dealer about a new Radikal. Hoping for a generous trade-in.

Thanks for sharing! Exciting. It's going to be expensive while still saving for the New Generation DSM ;-)

I'll ask the obvious question. Will the new Akurate cased Radikal out-perform the old Klimax cased Radikal?

Ask dealer to return it to Linn, you can't take delivery of outdated kit. I wonder if the information above is still embargoed, and something meant for 50 year anniversary was leaked early.. :) But pricing suggests otherwise.

It should still be embargoed, but Loud & Clear obviously know better.

Let’s just say yes, and be done with it…:goodone:

I tend to agree. This should be a massive improvement.
