John Denver

Poems, Prayers & Promises

Just to clarify - I am not a religious person.

There’s a lot of heart felt sentiment in this though and it was/is one of my mum’s favourites - second only to Peter, Paul & Mary.

Never fails to put a smile on my face 😊

Absolutely one of their best albums for me, alongside Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me and Disintegration

I listened to it again through headphones and enjoyed it even more than the prior listen.  Perhaps its growing on me after all these years.  And perhaps it is one of those albums (rare in my view) better listened to through headphones!

Having a Deep Purple Mk2 fest today, listening to albums I either have never listened to or haven't played for a long time.

First off was the Concerto for Group and Orchestra. This didn't stay on long, so still have never heard it all the way through.

Next was 'Fireball (25th Anniversary Edition). Still rate this album and great to hear details that I've never heard before due to system improvements since last hearing it.

And now, "Who do we think we are". Good to hear for nostalgic reasons but I'm reminded why it hasn't been played in ages 😅.

RIP Mr. Lord, a gentleman and a great musician. So glad we went to see him play at Lichfield Cathedral towards the end of his life.

Persist with the Concerto!  Some lovely passages!
