Thanks Bazzer. Yes I would like to exhibit at Kegworth, along with a friend of mine who has recently built his own turntable, complete with wooden tonearm.

Right well you had better get your details sorted I'll alert the main man to contact you . @Maverick  Paul can you fit Deb and his mate in ?

I'll have to ask, the brochure has started.

Hi @Deb64, do fill out your profile. Glad that you enjoyed Kegworth, it is rather special. The entries closed end Jan, the bookings team have completed their work but I'll ask. The entries spreadsheet for the 2020 show was launched on 19th March 2019!!

Meanwhile can you immediately fill this out: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IKVByYWGCQbzECfmXTJgUi1QfZQT87XnKD41pkiWOQI/edit?usp=sharing

Key that we know if you want a twin room or double room and wish to stay on Sunday night  as well for the curry at a local restaurant - this optional

Saturday arrival & set up is mandatory. Prices include a cooked breakfast.

Prices will be similar to last year I understand; £85 for a room on Saturday plus £10 public liability insurance (not for your kit) a lower rate will be offered for Sunday

Hello all,

First post, just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to Hifi and looking for advice on my first ever proper system outside of headphones.

I haven't listened to much music for years but while I'm inbetween jobs having returned from Oz I have been trialing Amazon Music HD and finding new artists. Doscivering a lot of 70s rock at the moment. I was recommended Rush after Led Zepplin so a few albums in and I must say they are very good.

Will post somewhere about where to start researching about a hifi system.

One thing I struggle with is understanding what all the people like Z Reviews, Steve Guttenberg and John Darko on youtube are on about half the time. They all use a lot of descriptive words I would associate with sight or touch rather than sound... Anyway I am rambling!

Welcome to the forum. Don’t worry, like all men’s hobbies Hifi can get extremely focused on the details. Nevertheless we are an extremely friendly bunch and always looking to help, especially those new to the scene .

we have an amazing event coming up next month - the Wam show - where you will be able to hear first hand all the different flavours of what is possible from the systems put together by forum members. Something there will resonate with how you want to listen to your music and you will find your path!

A very big welcome to the forum oxymoron, do fill out your profile so we can call you by your name (insults only flow one we know you well / have met you). Given where you are in your journey a visit to the show will be a big help, there will be 42 systems running, either someone's home system (or in some cases one of their several systems) or a combination of 2 members sharing a room.

Nobody is selling you gear (aside from anything in the bring & buy sale, where there maybe a bargain!) and very unlikely to be ANY trade-show plinky-plonky jazz :D we play requests, Mark and I are in room 117 and will play anything we can find on Tidal.

I'll try to remember to throw in some Led Zep on vinyl. If Kegworth is too far for a day trip you could book a room in the Best Western hotel like many non-exhibitors do (although there maybe the odd left for sleeping in the event hotel), the other hotel is 150yd away from the event, as long as you buy a ticket for the Sunday then it is allowed to wander over to jin us on Saturday night when old acquaintances are renewed, drink may be taken and music played in most rooms until around midnight

kind regards, Paul

big welcome, and echo Jeff's comment about filling out your profile etc.

we'd normally recommend booking time for our show, but who knows when the next one will be!

Hi, I've been a member for a while, but never introduced myself...apologise for that ! I've been more of a reader than a writer, and have used the site mainly as a resource for sensible advice, although I have bought & sold a couple of things. Anyway, it's a great site, which I've spent far too many hours on, losing myself in audio daydreams.

From mid 80's to mid 90's, I was heavily into my hifi, be it on a very limited budget. I was an avid reader of all the hifi mags, much to my partner at the times puzzled dismay. However, mid 90's I lost interest somewhat, sold my gear, bought a mini system....blah, blah, blah.

Anyway in the last 5yrs, I've been trying to assemble a decent system once again... the vinyl was calling me ! Depressingly this still had to be accomplished on a very limited budget.

I've bought all my bits 2nd hand, starting with a project 1.2, Arcam A85, & focal 905's. I spent many hours on here, looking for advice, and relearning the dark arts of vinyl replay. I'm banished to the attic so the room dictates the kit somewhat. It became clear, after a few years that I'd have to up the budget a bit to get what I wanted. I've since been slowly swapping & adding bits & pieces until, now I feel I'm pretty much where I want, & can afford to be. My latest purchase; a pair of Opera Callas gold speakers, seem to have been the final piece in the jigsaw. I finally feel I can rest where I am, I'm now listening to the music, not constantly picking at the presentation. Obviously you should never say never, but right now...I'm happy.

Thanks all for making this site what it is !

Si
