Munich high end day 2.
A late start for me today. Last night got a bit messy. Anyone tells you Americans can’t drink needs to have a night out with Dan and Kristine of ModWright… my head hurts. Anyway on the U bhan now. Be at the show shortly.
And yes, you get a good 3G signal everywhere here. It’s how things should be.
One of the many atrium. You can’t get your head round the size of this place..
Surprise of the show has to be Arcam and Kef making a righteous sound. Really textured very High Fi! But in a good way.
Playing Come together and sadly now the bass line hasn’t. It’s a touch ott for me. 12k euro. Speakers. ouch..
Small ones at 6k
Carbon rpm10 looks v nice
Cheshire head phones from Pandora. .
Just for tough bob
And deseases acoustics.. brilliant.
Magic beans a plenty
These cables are supra..
They say they are not audiophiles and we believe them..
I was going to tell you something about the Densen but monster took our eye..
Proper cheshire nasties..
Right. Naim statement time.
I have my invite
He’s very friendly.
Still no music, this better be good.
Chet baker now.. and it is good..
Mark just correctly commented.. “there must be 75dB of sound bleed from their stand outside the dem room. Epic.”
Which is a shame as it’s an impressive demo so far. Sadly the bass is dull and thuddy. Lacks timbre and warmth.
Haydn violin concerto is somewhat etched too. Very clinical sound. Some will love it. Not my cup nof tea to be honest. Perhaps too realistic.
Ahh next track.. some wonderful bass now with real prescence from the string section. This is very good. Perhaps the thuddy bass previously was the recording. Still a touch edgy for me but I get it. And it is good. Actually it’s a curates egg. Exceptionally good 95% of the time.
Playing Jeff Beck now at insane volumes and it fair blew my socks off. Great fun very good indeed.
He’s not wrong. Much. So much life, not at all clinical. Just wonderful actually.
Ocean way audio speakers. All of the bass. They have all of the bass. oh dear, wheels fell off that one.
Back to Absolare. It is sounding even better today.
Possibly best in show.
Damn good hifi. The rockports are very special. How does such a huge black box dissappear like that. The Absolare amps are $50k, sadly out of reach for me, however a lottery win would put this system high on my shopping list. One of the best sounds in show.
Popped back to Tune/ModWright now. . I prefer it to the Absolare. Mark disagrees. Both are exceptional. We’ve been in a lot of rooms, heard a lot of good kit and a fair amount of over-priced and average kit.. Absolare/Rockport, Kondo/living voice and ModWright/tune audio stand head and shoulders above the rest. I’d be as happy as George Best locked in a pub with any of them. The tunes are the most accessible price wise. So for me that wins it.
And then this happened. Hifi deliuxe. Drinks with pq as per..
PQ’s new capacitor. He’s rather pleased with it.
Guy and Nick standing in the way.
Who knows.. who cares.. it was like a dungeon in there.
Rega.. sound of silence. She’s very pretty but doesn’t know how to make it play music..
Help has arrived. We have musix.
Cheapest system at the show probably £4k for the lot and it sounded really lovely.
And that’s all from me for another year. Will get a few snaps of the big dinner tonight but no more hifi. I’m all hifi’d out. Byeee…
Jack said we have to come and here the nee ModWright phono stage. So here we are.
All wammers all of the time. Mark BMtell is doing some live trolling. It’s just like being in the prince albert only with better beer.
