Munich High End – Live blog
12:09pm 10th May. Just leaving for the airport. Looking forward to a beer in Munich tonight with the lads.
Leg room! Always worth speedy boarding when you are 6’8″ :-)
No non porcine casualties reported thus far. However the schnapps has just arrived.
Tune audio primes sounding frighteningly good. Genuine presence, in the room feel to them. The saxophone playing as I type sounds so pure. Smitten already. Oh dear. Wanna wanna.
Paul mac just turned to me and said “I know its a cliché but they really do dissappear.” And he’s dead right. They are more transparent than their bigger brothers. Of course without quite the scale.
Cripes chief. Sounds even better than it looks. Quite remarkable dynamics from such a lifestyle friendly set up.
Avid pre amp 2 box affair.
Avid ingenum. Review coming soon!
Every bit as awesome as everyone makes out.
I can go home now. Nothing I have ever heard comes even close. I always felt people were getting carried away when they went on about these. I was wrong. Sadly my skills as a reviewer cannot match these speakers. You have to hear them yourself. Utterly gob smacked.
Some small horns.
Nagra and marten sounding extremely good. But leaving me somewhat cold. Perhaps I should have saved the vox olympians till tomorrow. Nothing can compete.
This is really good. The photo doesn’t do the estelon speakers justice.
Estelon speakers from estonia.
Vitus from denmark
The tone arm is durand, unipivot. The sperling turntable is immense.
The bass is all wrong. Which is a shame, as the build quality is sublime. Probably room issues.
Tune audio mit huge suben woofer.
You can’t afford the vox olympians. No honestly, you can’t. But you could save up for the tune audio animas. They are not as good as the vox olympians , but they get you close to that sound. Seriously amazing speakers. £32k is a lot of dosh, but it feels like a bargain. Not heard anything else get close to the definitive sound. Yet.
Totem sounds three no ten times bigger than they look.. corr. Torrent downfiring bass driver is incredible. Super fast.
200watt mono block with computer controller that will phone you if it goes wrong. No. Really.
Cable lifters. Carpet noise isn’t holding msb back today. Not no way Mr!
Nola baby grands and audio research. Oh and some proper cables too. Nordost odin. Cheap stuff.
A massive psu with t amp.
Dire straights warning…
See how happy he is.
That amp again
Coco San likes these a Lot.
Looks like a Hornby toaster to me. But more knowledgeable chaps assure me they are rather special.
Actually like the styling. Its brave.
Three Phono inputs with loading selectable on each phono input.
The sound is very good. It’s clearly great hifi. However, at lunch peter Q told us to ask for a particular track. Our request was firmly turned down and instead we are enduring what sounds like someone having a stroke in a piano shop. Bit of a shame really. It did sound exactly like a piano though. Which is very hard to recreate.
Modwright rooms sounds excellent. The von shwert speakers are lovely in the flesh. The disadvantage of this blog is that many of the photos won’t do the kit the justice they deserve.
Voices in the room. Controlled yet tuneful bass. Its good. Very different sound to the audio note room. But still vety good.
Einstein room. At hifi delux.
Strange arrangement with the speakers.
The drums sound a bit lost, it’s all a bit veiled.
It’s dark in here. And full of foo. Proper mental foo. Although the whole sound has been ruined by carpet noise.
Actually that’s not fair as the sound is seriously good. The ch amps and cd player are really nice.
Having a beer with dan wright of Modwright instruments. A conversation between him and Peter Q on the merits of valves would be great to see.
Langerton speakers. Ask audio wins best music selection at the show so far. The speakers sound pretty damn good too.
They are made in Germany. 32k euro. One of the best sounding systems of the day. Cheap electronics amazing speakers.
John agrees. Amazing sound. Totally down to the speakers imo. Quad 909 amp doing a good job, but the sound is beyond what we come to expect from this level of electronics. Big thumbs up.
