1000w monoblocks

Has anyone ever seen anything like these huge hifi monoblocks?
They each weigh over 50kg’s I reckon.
Sadly the builder is deceased.
Apparently they’re something to do with a John linsley hood design ( not sure myself)

I dare not power them up .

John Linsley Hood was an electrical genius up there with the very best British/world designers, today not so well remembered . After a safety check by a qualified engineer my guess is they will drive anything with fineness.

Seems the builder ( a medical doctor) spent a lot of time on these , I’m not sure what to do with them.

My first comment would be those heat sinks seem way undersized for a 1000w amp

They look monstrous things they would probably cause a blackout all on their own if you turned them on😱⚡️⚡️

He doesn't say they're class A though could be AB with very low bias.

In which case ….why - even 50 watts of full class A would probably blow the socks off 1000watts of AB etc

Crikey, they are beasts. You bought them off eBay? Definitely worth getting a pro check over and as long as you can afford the electricity bill (may require it’s own power station) I’d love to know how they performed.

Good job you didn’t see the blue Cable coming from one of the transformers that was pinched flat between the chassis and transformer! Glad I didn’t power them on 🤣

The heat sinks are the biggest I’ve ever seen on none commercial amplifiers

Well I’ve done my bit of saving the planet by not powering them and stripping them down .
Anyone need some HUGE Drake transformers? 19kg’s each they’d make good anchors 🤣
