Out and about still, but if I try this on my phone, will the freq response of the inbuilt speaker give up before my ears - and how would I know?🤔

With headphones and smartphone I can hear 17kHz with my left ear and 16kHz with the right one, using the Audio Check test.
I'm nearing 50.
Sorry, can you speak up pleassse? anyway, don’t be fussed about that I am sure I am worse but the blunt truth is that it doesn’t make any difference to my enjoyment of the music nor does it impede me evaluating hi fi systems. Most of the music is happening way lower than those frequencies.

The frequency at 17-18 breaks up on my I phone and is too audible. I put it through system where I get a true signal. Can still hear to 18.. just.

I quite recently had a hearing test at hospital after a suspected perforated eardrum, no sign of perforation luckily and my hearing is fine. The audiologist did say that I’m starting to get to the age (late 40s) were hearing starts to drop off, and that by 60s and 70s the hearing loss will be quite significant and not just at high frequencies, which explains the volume of my dad’s tv when I visit! Something to look forward to 😒

At least I’ll be able to use it as an excuse for ignoring the other half.

Edit, is it my browser or has something disappeared from the o.p., all I see is a blank post with report back at the bottom?

I found musical bliss when I decided on upgrading my sound. So sold my speakers and got 2 subs instead.

I am pretty sure my tinnitus is over 14k .. anyway to be serious - here is the chart which shows the instrument frequencies just to reassure those whose hearing is down to 12k

But that is just the fundamentals.
Was about to post the same ie: what about the 2nd, 3 rd etc harmonics?
throughout my 37 year career, had biannual audio gram for my 1st class aviation medical. Very little drop off, but narrower frequency range than hifi. The Epicon hybrid tweeters cross over to ribbon @ 14Khz. Certainly detectable with my advancing years, but that is not the same as a precise test tone at those frequencies. That might be tricky, but don’t really care when music sounds this good.
